A racist Donald Trump tells four freshman Congresswomen of color to “go back” to the “crime infested” countries they come from. Three of the four, however, were born in the United States.

This morning, President Donald Trump posted a series of racist tweets directed at freshman Democratic Congresswomen Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who have collectively become known as “the squad.” In his online tirade against the progressive lawmakers, several of whom have called for his impeachment, the President said that the four women of color should “go back” to where they came from, rightfully angering non-racists across the country.

Of the four elected officials that Donald Trump said should “go back” to “the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came”, three were actually born right here in the United States. [Omar, a Somali refugee, immigrated to the United States at 10, and became a U.S. citizen at 17. The other three members of “the squad” were born here, in the United States.] So, when Donald Trump says that they should go back to the “totally broken and crime infested” places they come from, he’s talking about the United States of America in three out of four cases.

But, as we know, reality doesn’t really matter to Donald Trump, the members of his racist base, or the hosts on FOX News, who are only too happy to share his racist lies, while laughing along. Sure, it may not be the real, actual truth when Donald Trump says that they’ll all from “totally broken and crime infested” countries, but there’s an “emotional truth” to it, the same way there was an “emotional truth” to Trump’s birther lie about Barack Obama having been born in Kenya. In the end, to members of the MAGA base, it doesn’t really matter where these people of color are actually from. All that matters is that they’re not like us. They aren’t the kind of good, white, America-loving citizens that make this country great… And, given that, they might just as well have been raised in the kinds of “totally broken and crime infested” non-white countries that Donald Trump refers to as “shitholes“.

Here’s the response from Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib of Michigan’s 13th congressional district.

And, here, from the New York Times, is a bit of context: “Delivered on the day he had promised widespread immigration raids, Mr. Trump’s comments signaled a new low in how far he will go to affect public discourse surrounding the issue. In a week in which he waged a fight about putting a citizenship question on the 2020 census and hosted incendiary right-wing internet figures at the White House, Mr. Trump appeared resigned to force 2020 voters to choose between the white, native-born America he and his supporters have romanticized and the diverse and increasingly foreign-born country he is presiding over.”

As for why Donald Trump is doing this, I think the answer is clear. He’s a fucking racist. As for why he’s doing it now, and doing it so blatantly, my sense is that he’s seen the most recent polling data, which shows him losing by huge margins to the likes of Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, and Bernie Sanders in the general election, and he’s come to realize that his message of no health care and greater wealth disparity just isn’t working with voters. So, he’s going all-in on a platform of racial animus, and white victimhood.

In the past few days, as news has continued to come out about the the inhumane conditions at migrant detention facilities along the southern border, Donald Trump has done nothing to remedy the situation, instead announcing new ICE raids, and inviting racists, conspiracy theorists and lunatics to the White House to discuss the 2020 campaign. And things, I’m afraid, are just going to get worse, as I see no Republicans standing up to him to stop it. In fact, many, like Lindsey Graham, are actually supporting him, calling these Congresswomen “anti-American” and “communists”.

Trump has likely been advised to tweet provocative comments directed at “the squad.” Having them represent the alternative to Trump doesn’t play well for the Dems.

Representing some of the safest Democratic districts in the country, the squad members do not concern themselves with those swing voters which decide the key states in general elections.

They are also unusually inexperienced and likely value attention to themselves more than they do a coherent strategy for Dems retaking control of the legislature and/or presidency.

Provoking the squad members and directing media attention onto them will help Trump influence the way swing voters characterize his Democratic opposition.

For the record, and because I know how the stupid people here jump to unsupported conclusions, I know any of the Democratic candidates could beat Trump with the proper campaign structure. However, none of “the squad” could beat Trump if any of them were the Democratic presidential candidate challenging him. That’s why the strategy will be to direct as much focus on them as possible and off of any of the actual challengers to the president and incumbent republicans in vaulnerable seats. There is nothing new about any of this.

Having been genuinely involved in government and politics for much of my life, the exact idiology of a candidate is of much less importance to me than their competence and leadership qualities are. So often incompetent individuals are installed by racketeers seeking to control the office, we the public are lucky to get any competent officials anymore.

We all know you do, Jean.

Anon (Jean): “Second of all, I’m pretty sure that was not Jean’s post, as I am not her.”

Posting as anonymous is one thing, but playing this game you’re playing now is quite childish.

Anon (Jean): “And third of all, I thought it was a good mainstream article that supported all your points and pushed back against the tone of Mark’s post.”

It’s an ok article, but you posted it to equate my comments with a republican telling Dems what to do. I’ve done 100 times more than you’ll ever do in the Democratic Party. You kid yourself that your offensiveness is proof of you doing something effective. It isn’t. Your attack on Mark in the previous thread, for example, was a perfect demonstration of how your just impulsively offensive. Mark has never done anything but defend you.

Anon (Jean): “I don’t understand what got you so angry?”

Are you asking that as a question? The way that’s worded is as a statement. But then you put a question mark at the end of it. If you’re asking me if I’m angry, the answer is no. It could come across that way through texting, but I’m just not very eloquent. I’m also a bit insulting generally and that comes across as anger in text.

Senator Sanders is considered the most left-leaning candidate in the current field of Democrats, and I believe he could win against Trump. The outcome of the 2020 general election will be determined by Dem campaign organization, structure, strategy, and execution, more than anything else. That’s essentially what the situation was in 2016 and the Dem’s voter ID and GOTV operations were sabbataged from within the firm charged with those duties. The security and integrity of the Democratic campaign would have to be maintained this time for there not to be just a repeat of 2016. If Dems think keeping Russian agents from hacking it will be sufficient, they will be vaulnerable to the very same strategy as they were last time.

Framing the President of the USA with exactly what they do: collusion with foreign powers to fix an election. When that failed they tried their damnedest to undo our election.

They are going to pay and you will be ashamed for ever supporting them and attacking the ones who told the truth. It’s no joke. That ought to have dawned on you a while ago when the pattern began to emerge that what I say turns out to be true.

Telling four elected members of Congress (all of whom are U.S. citizens, and three of whom were born in the U.S.) to “go back to the crime infested countries they came from” is ignorant, despicable, and un-American.

Are there enough hours in the day to denounce all racism and lies of politicians from both parties? Can you name a single politician who is honest?

Just because there are no righteous persons running for office does not mean that a person is not allowed to attempt to choose the lesser of two evils. Aside from the absurdity that criticizing the US makes on less American than another, the problem with the US and being an American citizen, is that you can’t just leave. We are one of the only developed countries that taxes citizens ever when living abroad, will charge you $3500 to renounce your citizenship and STILL force you to pay taxes for an entire decade after you renounce.

The problem with being an American, is that “being an American” is a condition that is almost impossible to rid oneself of. Not many countries do this, and not many other countries have the power to enforce it like the US does. If you are poor, it might not matter very much, but if you have money, being an American can be an incredible burden because you have to pay taxes in two different countries, your country of residence and the US, where you might not live and thus not receive any services.

Willem and other well intentioned reactionaries are inevitable and provide unfortunate fodder for propagandist. Agent Orange, or should I say Vlad, knows this. Musollini 101 again. If fascist forces like Faux News are determined to push towards destabilization they will continue to exploit this, and they probably can’t be stopped. His dismal poll numbers make this course of action all the more likely. Prepare your minds and bodies and equipment for the worst case scenario and anything less won’t seem so bad.

    EOS,

“Are you following the same polls that said Hilliary couldn’t lose?”

It’s not about polls as much as it’s about demographics and the electoral college system. The Democratic Party’s reliance upon GOTV operations is its Achilles heel. With a fully functioning voter ID and GOTV operation, the Democrats have a solid advantage in presidential generals and in a considerable number of congressional seats as well.

EOS: “Are you following the same polls that said Hilliary couldn’t lose?”

The polls you’re referring to were all based on scenarios where GOTV operations were reasonably functional. That was very strategically shut down in 2016, and from what I’ve seen so far, could likely be done again in 2020. There is clearly very little awareness of any of this.

EOS: “Sanders can’t even win the party nomination.”

I agree that he’s an extreme long shot, and even more so this time around than he was in 2016 when the Democratic field wasn’t so flooded as it is this time.

So, to summarize, Democrats have a solid demographic advantage in the key swing states and the majority of congressional swing districts. However, the Democrats reliance upon GOTV is their greatest vulnerability. Disabling, or simply severely damaging the Dems GOTV operations is a simple, easy, and efficient way to deafeat them in most competitive races.

“I think Trump should let the Dems demonize him up until the last minute.”

“Demonization” suggests it’s not an accurate portrayal of who he is. But Trump’s evil words speak for themselves. Democrats are not alone in recognizing that. You may not agree with their politics but they are not wrong about Trump. I pray for so-called “conservatives” who rationalize their inaction, because they have sold their souls. They are not conservative, they are craven cult members. Trump is a disgrace that the Republicans own and it is they who could end this disgusting travesty but they do not. Can Amash be the ONLY Republican congressman with any integrity left? It’s just incredible this is where we are as a nation.

“Is there literally nothing this president can say or do that would cause his supporters to say he has crossed the line?”

No there is not. I am convinced Trumps remaining supporters are either cult members, or money changers who have retaken residence in the temple.

What is worse is the same people who ridiculed him have failed to acknowledge just how gullible they were to accept and push the false narrative. I am in wait and see mode on the big stuff and I don’t care to make predictions but HW has been great at pointing out BS propaganda and BS fallacious reasoning when he encounters it.

If you really know HW in real life and if you are actually concerned about him then why don’t you give him a call or meet up with him for a talk? Posting your concern oublically just seems like cheap and easy attempts at gaslighting…

Now, it seems that we can’t even agree on what’s wrong anymore, so there’s nothing to fix. The end result is that we just insult each other over nothing, while the people at the top, regardless of party, make out like bandits.

I appreciate the effort Mark makes to keep making posts to this blog and allow people to comment. While there has always been some whose posts were merely personal attacks, there used to be a dozen or so persons who created a community here where ideas were shared.

HW- I would encourage you to keep posting the information you share but get a thicker skin and forget about defending yourself. Your angry response only provokes more attacks. And when things you write about are ridiculed, but then become known to be true, the detractors will grow quiet.

FF – You used to be much nicer in your posts and were a good bridge-builder. I very much admired this ability. But I think lately you have gotten frustrated and I have watched how other’s negativity has worn you down.

Robert- You have always been able to add some humor to this blog and have made me smile a lot. I have learned a lot from your political insights.

Even the US House is having a hard time discussing things without constant personal attacks. Today they are racing to censure both Pelosi and Trump.

It could be different. We could post comments and be civil and ignore the negativity. We could disagree and still be nice about it. What do you say we give it a try and encourage the rest of the commenters to do the same?

You and HW have deflected a lot of abuse. I should have been more vocal in my appreciation. But didn’t want to draw more enemy fire on any of us. Thanks.

I heard he let people in Detroit take possession of abandoned homes at no cost to help combat wealth inequality.

    EOS,

No thanks necessary. I am not even even sure if the ridicule I delivered was effective…I do wonder though…The thing people might find funny though is that iRobert, HW, EOS and I are actually all coming from very different perspectives although we have often been lumped together primarily because we all stood up for each other at different points.

Maybe now would be a good time to say I do not condone what Trump said. He should apologize–especially to the 3 who were born here. It probably would not have bothered me if he only said it to Omar, to be honest, but he didn’t he said it to all three. He messed up. His mini clarification “all I am saying is if they want to leave they can leave” is not good enough of a explanation, imo. If Trump did not mean to say what he said then he should apologize for saying something he did not mean to say.

“HW- I would encourage you to keep posting the information you share but get a thicker skin and forget about defending yourself. Your angry response only provokes more attacks. And when things you write about are ridiculed, but then become known to be true, the detractors will grow quiet.”

They’ll do that either way. I don’t see anything wrong with burning some (all) of these fools.

The Great Awakening (‘Freedom of Thought’), was designed and created not only as a backchannel to the public (away from the longstanding ‘mind’ control of the corrupt & heavily biased media) to endure future events through transparency and regeneration of individual thought (breaking the chains of ‘group-think’), but, more importantly, aid in the construction of a vehicle (a ‘ship’) that provides the scattered (‘free thinkers’) with a ‘starter’ new social-networking platform which allows for freedom of thought, expression, and patriotism or national pride (the feeling of love, devotion and sense of attachment to a homeland and alliance with other citizens who share the same sentiment).
When ‘non-dogmatic’ information becomes FREE & TRANSPARENT it becomes a threat to those who attempt to control the narrative and/or the stable.
When you are awake, you stand on the outside of the stable (‘group-think’ collective), and have ‘free thought’.

I have never read anything from Q before. Well maybe a snippet here and there but it did not make sense to me. That was very clear, accurate and inspiring. Not a bunch of talk of lizard people like I was lead to believe. What do the people who always mock HW for reading Q think about that particular excerpt? For me it reminds of the time that one Mark’s friends through some kind of algorithm exposed his site to rural Trump supporters. Do you guys remember that? One of the rural Trump supporters, after reading Mark’s site, wrote to Mark saying something like: “Take a prozac and get the shit out of your ears.” We had professors (?), and people with advanced degrees (?), on here making fun of the rural Trump supporters not for the content of their messaging but because they mis-spelled some things. I have been saying it for about a year. People in University bubbles are vastly underestimating the renaissance of thought happening on the outskirts and in old manufacturing/ agricultural sectors….Those same University bubble boys and girls are also vastly underestimating how much the quality of their own thought has been degraded into various dogmatic shitpiles over the past few decades…

Anyway, wondering what the people who mock HW all the time are thinking about that little post?

John Brown’s response when asked about how he felt about John Brown Gun Club member, Willem Spronsens, acts of terrorism last week:

“Willem and other well intentioned reactionaries are inevitable and provide unfortunate fodder for propagandist. Agent Orange, or should I say Vlad, knows this. Musollini 101 again. If fascist forces like Faux News are determined to push towards destabilization they will continue to exploit this, and they probably can’t be stopped. His dismal poll numbers make this course of action all the more likely. Prepare your minds and bodies and equipment for the worst case scenario and anything less won’t seem so bad.”

Inspiring stuff…Plays well amongst the parakeets.
