Trump not only refuses to condemn the actions of Kenosha killer Kyle Rittenhouse, but makes the case for self-defense

This morning, when asked by the press if President Trump would condemn the actions of Kyle Rittenhouse, the young, right wing vigilante charged with killing two protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin, White House spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany responded, “The president is not going to weigh in on that.” Later in the day, however, Trump did weigh in on the case. He did not, however, condemn the actions of Rittenhouse. Instead, the President put forward a defense for the murderer, saying that, if he hadn’t shot, once he’d tripped and fallen to the ground, he “probably would have been killed.” What Trump neglected to say, of course, is that, when Rittenhouse was on the ground, in this vulnerable position, he’d already shot and killed one man, and the people approaching him were likely just looking to disarm an active shooter, and not kill him. [None of the men approaching Rittenhouse were armed.]

One of Donald Trump’s supporters appears to have traveled across state lines with an assault weapon with the intention of confronting those protesting police violence. And, as a result, two men — Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber — are now dead. And not only has Donald Trump not condemned the act, but he’s making the case for self-defense, and tweeting positively about his followers rising up and “taking matters into their own hands” in Democratic-run cities across America… As Congressman Adam Schiff just recently said, Donald Trump “fuels, condones and enables this kind of violence.” And, as we were discussing earlier, he does so very deliberately, as it allows him to instill fear, increase the chaos around us, and position himself as a “law and order” candidate.

In related news, Donald Trump also declined to condemn the actions of his followers in Portland, who were yesterday shooting paintball guns and spraying pepper spray at protesters.

Things are going to continue to get worse, folks. Here’s hoping we’re all prepared.

I am not prepared. How does one prepare for an incumbent who’s running against the election itself, cheers on vigilante violence, and is enabled by a party that stopped believing in democracy around the time Obama was president?

Nobody’s fully prepared. The Constitution doesn’t prepare us for a Russian agent in the White House supported by a morally bankrupt GOP.

But the military is representative of the nation and they clearly see his absolute betrayal of The Constitution and his utter dereliction of duty. His bootlickers know nothing about duty. Be prepared to eliminate those bootlickers as our duty to The Constitution and the future of humanity.

First by resisting the instigation to violence, then by any means necessary should they succeed at cheating the election again.

    Vague Guy,

No. Those are not known facts. Maynard would be wise to insert “SOME PEOPLE SAY” because he is repeating other people’s assumptions.

    Some people are also saying:

1)Kyle traveled to Kenosha (20 minutes from where he lives) because his job is in Kenosha and he was working earlier that day.

    2) Kyle did not transport a weapon across state lines because it was a gun that belonged to someone who lives in Wisconsin. Note: the gun he was carrying in Kenosha is not the same gun he is posing with in other earlier photos. JBroni can confirm if you do not believe me.

3)Kyle’s INTENT is unknown. Pretending otherwise demonstrates a very very low level understanding of what we can know about the motivations of others. We do have quite a few clues that he was at least, in part, there to “protect property” and offer first aid—because he is caught on video doing those things and also caught on video saying he is there to do those things.

Regarding Rittenhouse why are you trying to falsely portray it as not a self-defense situation? He put out the dumpster fire and they chased him. Rosenbaum the aggressive ex-con tried to take his gun. I think if an angry mob was chasing me with bad intent and tried to take my weapon I’d be a bit reticent to allow that to happen. What do you expect? Attacking someone with a semi-automatic rifle is probably about as smart as deciding to fight the police.

    Jean,

Regarding edit choices of “some people say” and “appears”:

I don’t think MMouth’s recent edits are corrections of “misstatements” though. I also don’t think the edits are corrections. He is intentionally choosing to use a his mealy mouth to forward his false- narrative in a way which allows him to also escape culpability for misinforming people. He is using those phrases because he is trying to escape responsibility for truth claims he wants to make but can not back up with evidence.

If you, Jean, catch the other side spreading misinformation or making truth claims that do not matchup to the evidence then you should point it out. What specific criticism that I have mounted do you disagree with? Feel free to argue your side. I just don’t see the point in you saying I don’t criticize both sides equally as if it matters. For all you know I am on a conservative blog fighting for medical for all and cheaper college. Worry about the quality of your own arguments. Whether or not FF has a balanced attack is in no way relevant to the quality of your arguments. Your arguments suck ass! Worry about yourself. You should be very worried.

1)Joseph is on camera threatening the the militia earlier. Skateboard guy was his friend. Glock guy was right there with them when Joseph was harassing the militia.
    2) For unknown reasons Kyle was fleeing from Joseph. Joseph continued to chase Kyle. Kyle stopped running away as he ran into sort of a dead end.
3). Around the same moment Kyle stopped running he turned.l and the first shot from a 3rd party handgun was shot into the air.
    4) Joseph continued to run toward Kyle. Kyle has his gun pointed at Joseph. Joseph was charging Kyle within 3 feet when Kyle shot him. Head shot.
That is what Joseph was doing before he got shot. Joseph was threatening militia members, chasing Kyle, attacking Kyle and not doing a very good job dodging a bullet.”

Let’s do a comparative exercise. The Austin BLM shooter immediately notified police and turned himself in. The police made a finding that he acted in self-defense. Some people were upset, but hey that is how things are in Texas.
The Kenosha murder does not turn himself in. His approaching LE with his hands up was not surrendering, but him returning to his side of the lines after his Rambo escapade. He did not want to be hit by friendly fire. The Kenosha murderer does mot inform police that he has shot 3 people on the street. He leaves the scene of the crimes and flees to Illinois. Wobblie,

    1) The first shot was from an unknown gunman shooting a pistol. That unknown gunman can be seen running behind Joseph as Joseph is chasing Kyle. The unknown gunman can be seen shooting the first shot but his identity is a mystery. I have speculated that it might be Glock guy. The two times I mentioned it I always expressed it as a speculation. There are a couple of clues that give me enough confidence to speculate about it. I feel pretty much 50/50 it was him. It can definitely be someone else it might be someone on Kyle’s side. I am 100% confident that the first shot came from the mystery gunman.

    2) Kyle shot Joseph very quickly 3-4 times. It was extremely close range. To me it looked like Joseph was twisting and falling as he tried to wrestle the gun from Kyle. It is not hard to imagine Kyle hit him in the back given those elements. Joseph was shirtless on his back as he died. If a bullet went through his back it did not go through to the front. The medics said “where is the hole”. Further Joseph did not stumble or seem effected from the first shot. (That is what you are getting at right?) what you are insinuating is a possibility. What does that have to do with Kyle is the question?

3). I say with 100% certainty that the shots as Kyle ran away were shots fired in the air by a rifle. 100% not Kyle shooting. I do not know if the rifleman was BLM, Antifa or militia. In the drone shots from Brandon Beamon you can make out the third shooter. He had his back turned away. Rifle up. As he shot straight in the air and ran away.

You seem to have a theory. Say it.

  42. Frosted Flakes

As far as I know Joseph did not have a weapon. He was 36 year old man chasing a 17 year old through a parking lot and who appeared to attack/ make contact with Kyle after Kyle heard a shot and ran out of room to flee anymore. Was he trying to take Kyle’s gun ? He did say “shoot me” earlier and did not seem afraid of Kyle at all when filmed earlier. Rather, Joseph appeared to be targeting Kyle specifically in the earlier video. Targeting the person who also happened to be the youngest and shortest guy in the group of gunmen.

If you have a theory, then just say it.

I actually did not have a strong opinion about who he called. I was trying to concede points to you because I wanted to narrow in on more important facts with you. I assumed you thought Kyle called the police. I assumed you thought that if Kyle called the police that was evidence of the police coordinating with Kyle. At that stage of fact collecting I did not see that fact as important enough to spend time on…

It is reported he called his friend Dominick. What the fuck is your point?

  47. Frosted Flakes
    Posted September 1, 2020 at 3:17 pm | Permalink

If he is proven to be illegal possession of a firearm then he should get in trouble. My understanding is that there is a possibility it was legal for him to be carrying a long rifle. It is my understanding politifact really put out a misleading fact check which a lot of people used as a source…. I don’t know and I don’t think it is important enough to worry about. Was the Portland shooter jaywalking right as he shot the victim? Who gives a fuck, man. If you have some legal argument if he was not legal to carry then good for you, dude. Have fun with it!

In terms of the possible culpability of the police force if it shown that they gave him special treatment—yeah—that seems like a reasonable question. I support investigating the police! The police are often fucking corrupt. Some things do seem fishy around police decisions but that is going way beyond the scope of my knowledge about this case

Do you have a theory, say it. If you have knowledge to share then share it. My god.

Just tell me straight up because I will stop talking with you if you have not accepted that basic fact yet. Perhaps the DA wants to know why he is having to extradite, when he is seen talking with the police within a minute of him killing two people. The lack of curiosity —well caught on video right FF, raises lots more questions. If he is innocent why is he resisting extradition?

Dueling used to be a common custom. Our great President Jackson was a renowned duelist. Our vice-President Burr killed Hamilton in a duel. The Oregon laws on self defense specifically prohibit self defense as a legal defense in dueling. The Wisconsin laws do in a more in direct way. I suspect we are seeing the 21 century example. The videos clearly show the challenge, “ kill me” ( is that not right FF). Kyles heading down the street after the police had ordered it cleared, was Kyle heading to the duel. Kyle won the duel and the pice who facilitated the match helped him escape.
If I was a District Attorney I would seriously be looking at these set of facts. What do you think my Faceless Fascist?

Whether you call yourself the Kenosha Militia or the Blackstone Rangers, you are a gang. For all I know this was a gang initiation gone bad. Would not be the first. Why was their a breakdown of public order? What caused people to start shooting? The perpetrator of all this maim flees the state. But wait their is video of him interacting with police. Is there more interaction not on video? Lots of questions to answer dont you think? Im glad the President wants to weigh in arnt you ?

Dueling is mainly illegal (I don’t know about Texas) but it is not something that is likely to disappear. Gangbangers of various descriptions engage in the practice. High class people engage in duels. Honor is not often discussed in the 21st century. But many men (particularly adolescent males) are motivated by those (quant) notions ( duty first honor will follow, the two finger Polish army salute puts them in order) . I am sure both parties were defending some notion of honor Were either putting duty first ) people take there first amendment rights to extreme.
I wonder about LE that might be complicit. Does anyone think we should investigate?

Most people dont know, but take the peace sign or the victory sign and use it as a salute and you are using the Polish salute of duty first, honor will follow.

We now know what may have prompted the “kill me” challenge. The “improper” way in which Rittenhouse handled his weapon was him pointing it at protesters as if to shoot them. That got Foster killed in Austin.
I was taught by my father (a firearms expert) you never point a weapon at a person unless you intend to shoot them.

    Wobblie,

We already discussed the black umbrella man. What did I say in that thread?

You are pretending you are exposing some reality/possibility I am not aware of or am denying. The problem with that tactic is you are being counter factual again. The counter factual implied truth claim is that I have denied the possibility that the black umbrella man was a cop. I thought the evidence was compelling. I read about it a bit. I was curious about pizza box man too. I pointed it out to people as a story to track. If you have more to add then please add to the story. Have you been tracking the story? Share your facts! Not sure what else to tell you.

You want to point out all the ways other people are responsible for the deaths, is that the determination the police made after hearing Rittenhouses explanation?
