Trump admits to Bob Woodward on tape that he knew how deadly COVID-19 was, yet decided to “play it down” to the American people

Since being named the best writer in Washtenaw County a few days ago, I’ve been in a bit of a funk. I’d written something last night about a piece of artwork that I’d recently acquired depicting an early human ancestor eating an oyster for the first time, and my plan to hang it in the bathroom of the new restaurant I just helped open, but then it occurred to me that what I’d written, which, for some reason, was full of profanity, likely wasn’t befitting our region’s “best” writer. So I sat back and waited for Donald Trump to do something noteworthy that I could wax poetic about. And, thankfully, I didn’t have to wait too long, as news broke that Donald Trump was intending to use the Department of Justice to defend him against the charge of rape. But, then, as I was writing about the allegations brought against the President by journalist E. Jean Carroll, and the unprecedented moves by Attorney General William Barr to have the DOJ intercede on Trump’s behalf, this happened.

That’s right… Audio was released today of Donald Trump telling journalist Bob Woodward on February 7 of this year that he was well aware of COVID-19 being extremely “deadly,” and much worse than the flu, while he was, at the very same time, intentionally misleading the American people as to the seriousness of the disease…. something which he admitted to Woodward in a later, March 19 conversation, which was also recorded. “I wanted to always play it down,” the President can be heard saying.

As of today, COVID-19 — the virus that Donald Trump assured us repeatedly was relatively harmless has left 195,239 Americans dead. And we now know that it was a conscious decision on his part to “play down” the risk, likely because he thought it would be his personal advantage. [Let’s remember this is also the man who disbanded the pandemic response team within the National Security Council and shut down the international pandemic preparedness program charged with the “detection and discovery of zoonotic diseases at the wildlife-human interface.”] How it is that the American people are not, at this very minute, dragging him from the White House, is absolutely beyond me. He not only created the circumstances so that the virus could get a foothold, but, once it was spreading, he consciously made the decision to lie about how deadly it was, so that it could sweep across the United States. And now nearly 200,000 of our friends and relatives are dead.

In an attempt to defend the indefensible, Donald Trump today said that he played down the threat of COVID-19 because he “(didn’t) want people to be frightened” or “create panic”. This, of course, is bullshit. Trump, as we know, is all about stoking fear. Just listen to one of his speeches about imaginary caravans of diseased, South American gang members headed toward our boarder, or read what he’s had to say about the death and destruction that awaits us should Joe Biden and his Antifa overlords find their way to power. It’s true that he didn’t want incite panic in this instance, but it was the potential of panic on Wall Street that he was thinking about. He didn’t care about working men and women. He didn’t care about the public health of American citizens. If he did, he would have urged people to wear masks, and told what he knew to be true early on, which is that the virus is airborne, and 5-times more deadly than the flu. If he’d done that, and urged Americans to wear masks at the outset, and listen to public health professionals, tens of thousands of Americans would still be alive today. He didn’t, though. He prioritized the stock market, thinking that the secret to reelection was the economy, and now nearly 200,000 Americans are dead. This is the price we’ve paid for electing a narcissistic conman to office. And one hopes we never forget it.

If you haven’t already, please like and share this video from the Lincoln Project… and make sure everyone you know is registered to vote. Now is our chance to set this right, America.

“I’ll get you something that’s sort of cool,” Trump said, picking up the phone on the Resolute Desk, asking for pictures of himself with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the Demilitarized Zone.

“This is me and him,” Trump said. “That’s the line, right? Then I walked over the line. Pretty cool. You know? Pretty cool. Right?” On June 30, 2019, Trump became the first US president to set foot in North Korea.

Trump continued, “nobody’s ever done that. I mean, they’re cool pictures when you — you know, when you talk about iconic pictures, how about that?”

Recently we learned only 6% of “covid deaths” are from covid alone. 94% had an average of 2.6 comorbidities (diabetes, heart disease, obesity, etc.) Now we find out that out of all positive tests some 90% are insignificant traces that could never make the person sick or be transmitted to anyone else. They are over-amplifying the DNA in the PCR tests by many times to get positive results. So how is this whole thing not a big fuckin’ LIE???

    Wobblie –

480,000 acres burned last week in eastern Washington. The smoke has been pouring in over the cascades since Monday. Fun stuff. 480,000 acres is equal to 750 square miles. That is larger than Washtenaw county ( 722 square miles ). 300,000 acres burned in Oregon so far. 2,500,000 acres in California.

I tried to impress on my climate change denying family members back in SE Michigan the scale of the destruction. The total burned so far is 5,156 square miles. That is equal to all of Washtenaw, Wayne, Oakland, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, and Lenawee County + about a quarter of St Clair county….. So all of SE Michigan… in a few weeks… up in smoke. And the tinder keg is just growing. There are huge stands of dead trees up in the cascades that have died in recent years due to drought stress and parasites with longer breeding seasons. When I was in Monterey last summer, I saw the Monterey Pines that are dying along the coast. None of the goddam climate change deniers have any good explanation for this. But they sure as hell know that the fires are being started by anarchists.

It is a fact that people die of those many co-morbidities all the time. It is also a fact that the “covid death toll” is comprised of all covid-RELATED deaths, meaning anyone who died who had a positive covid test is considered part of the death toll. It’s in everyone’s face but you don’t want to know. You want to use numbers that are ridiculous on the face of it. A lot of those people were going to die anyway. The misuse of the PCR test causing false positives is another nail in the covid coffin.

Wisconsin is being setup as the state where Trump steals the election. The Democrats in their anti-democratic best blocked the Green Party from being on the November ballot. The Green Party has been one of 5 recognized parties in Wisconsin, Michigan has 7). By denying them a position on the ballot they have forced the Greens to go to court to protect their access to the ballot. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is controlled by the death cult. They will ultimately rule that the Green Party can be on the ballot. They will wait to issue this ruling long enough to fuck with mail in voting.

HW’s ‘compassionate’ disease has long term side affects even among those with the most mild cases. We are just beginning to understand these. One thing we do know now, Covid-19 is a vascular disease not a lung ailment and, as such ,can potentially affect almost any part of the body for a short time or for the long haul.

Most people have no idea what the fuck is going on so why put stock in their impressions?

“Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus. They’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ They go, ‘Oh, not good, not good.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa, they can’t even count. No they can’t. They can’t count their votes.

One of my people came up to me and said, ‘Mr. President, they tried to beat you on Russia, Russia, Russia. That didn’t work out too well. They couldn’t do it. They tried the impeachment hoax. That was on a perfect conversation. They tried anything, they tried it over and over, they’ve been doing it since you got in. It’s all turning, they lost, it’s all turning. Think of it. Think of it. And this is their new hoax. But you know, we did something that’s been pretty amazing. We’re 15 people [cases of coronavirus infection] in this massive country. And because of the fact that we went early, we went early, we could have had a lot more than that.

GEO’s Health and Safety strike is spreading to other employee units within the University,

    Hi All,

We really need everyone who is able to show up in solidarity with the GEO strike going on right now!

GEO (the graduate student labor union) is on strike right now over demands for a safe and just campus. In addition to demands to protect workers and students in the face of the university’s blatant disregard for our lives during this pandemic, there are also explicitly abolitionist demands calling for the defunding of DPSS, cutting ties with ICE and military-contractors, and more.

    Supporting this strike means:
    1. Striking in solidarity – do not attend classes!
    2. Talk to your peers and professors so they understand that attending or “filling in” for classes where the GSI is striking is crossing the picket line
    3. Join us on the picket line! Strength comes in numbers, so please, bring buckets, drums, megaphones, signs and join the picket. In-person picket shifts are from 8-11AM, 11AM-2PM, and 2PM-5PM tomorrow and Friday with an extension vote pending on Friday. Go to the Diag to get an assignment or just join a picket you pass by on Central or North campus.
    4. If you are not comfortable with an in-person picket, join a virtual picket and call/email Schlissel and the Regents

We are in a truly unique moment on campus right now with Grad student workers on strike, a pending strike vote from faculty, Residential Assistants on strike, and a planned walkout by MDining this Friday. Together, we can work for a campus-wide strike and force the university to prioritize the health and safety of all students and staff on campus, not just the wealthy and the white.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions.

    -Sasha

The GEO strike is not just for them, it is for all our health and safety.

About three weeks ago, the University of Mississippi started its fall semester, bringing students from around the country back to Lafayette County. The university had hoped its mix of in-person and online classes and mask-wearing guidelines, among other measures, would be enough to prevent an outbreak.

On paper, the college appears to be doing well. According to recent numbers, the University of Mississippi has recorded about 430 confirmed cases since Aug. 24, the first day of classes in Oxford, and still has plenty of housing for those who have been infected or exposed to the virus.

Data in Lafayette County, home to the Mississippi flagship, paint a starker picture. An analysis by USA TODAY shows the county has one of the highest per-capita rates of coronavirus infections in the country, at 1,053 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people in the last two weeks.

The rising positive cases were expected with the return of students, but the increase remains concerning, said Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill. Oxford is both a college town and a place where people come to retire. In the past month, Tannehill said, 26 residents at a local veterans’ home have died in connection to the coronavirus.

    HW-

I am not supportive of the property destruction, looting, and arson that has been going on at the protests. This was an opportunity for a discussion about racial inequality led by those affected by it, but instead it has turned into a circus… a circus in which most of the actors are white people running their mouths off and drowning out the voices of those who have direct experience with and something to say on the issue.

The antifa moniker is just a bunch of crap. Their thoughts and actions are both disordered, and that is all they have to offer is disorder. I don’t think they can even achieve the organizational capacity of a motorcycle gang. They are a heap of disorganized individuals with nothing meaningful to say. If they were truly concerned about the issues of racial inequality, they’d be comporting themselves, listening to the expressed concerns and deliberating over the proposed changes. Instead…. dumpster fires. To conflate them with BLM is not right.

The Q community is just as bad. They are acting as amplifiers for every bullshit story that is put forward without a moments thought… the online version of dumpster fires and castles in the sky. What if common sense was not an accurate measure of effective action? We know the earth is round, but that isn’t because of common sense. It’s because of common science. Got my marching orders from Uncle Vlad. Had to watch the useful idiot Lee Camp interview with fellow traveler Greg Palast to get the details on how Trump will loose the popular vote, but win the election in Congress. I wonder how much the Democratic plans in their Transition Integrity Plan dovetails with the Trump strategy? Or will there be a “Grand Compromise ” like 1876. Getting to know the 12th Amendment and Article II clauses 2,3 and 4 of the US Constitution would seem like a good idea.

Like this election year, civil disturbances were used by the parties to control electoral votes.
The South Carolina civil disturbances of 1876 were a series of race riots and civil unrest related to the Democratic Party’s political campaign to take back control from Republicans of the state legislature and governor’s office through their paramilitary Red Shirts division. Part of their plan was to disrupt Republican political activity and suppress black voting, particularly in counties where populations of whites and blacks were close to equal. Former Confederate general Martin W. Gary’s “Plan of the Campaign of 1876” gives the details of planned actions to accomplish this.

President Trump said Thursday that he would “very quickly” stifle riots on Election Night if Democrats organize protests against his potential victory, suggesting he would do so by employing a law allowing him to deploy active-duty troops domestically.

“We’ll put them down very quickly if they do that. We have the right to do that, we have the power to do that if we want,” Trump told Fox News host Jeanine Pirro when asked how he would stop potential riots on election night should he win.

“Look, it’s called insurrection. We just send in and we do it, very easy. I mean, it’s very easy. I’d rather not do that because there’s no reason for it, but if we had to we’d do that and put it down within minutes,” Trump continued.

The president’s interview with Pirro was taped Thursday but is expected to air Saturday evening.
We can expect Trump to claim victory on Nov. 3-4. The Democrats will call for mass protest to defend the vote–which will still be in the process of being counted. Expect right wing provocations and false flag attacks. Trump uses the insurrection act to stop the “rioting” and coincidently the vote count.

People who break with local orthodoxy use caution with the expression of their opinion BECAUSE (!) they are aware of who holds the power and who is willing to wield that gross power against people who do not fall in line with the orthodoxy. How is that not obvious? Wow.

I think it’s evident enough that as a woman with a point of view and a strong voice (which I do not confuse with being right), I piss off a lot of people on all sides. There has been no major consequence. No one really cares that much about your politics so long as you come to them with heart, thought and intention and you treat others fairly in discourse. That last piece is where you fall off. The toxic combo of righteousness and double standards is tiresome and it’s just not worth the effort after a piece to engage with you. Your arguments wear thin but your conceit never wanes.

For those who want to play the Article 2, Amendment 12 game.

“The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed; and if no person have such majority, then from the persons having the highest numbers not exceeding three on the list of those voted for as President, the House of Representatives shall choose immediately, by ballot, the President. But in choosing the President, the votes shall be taken by states, the representation from each state having one vote; a quorum for this purpose shall consist of a member or members from two-thirds of the states, and a majority of all the states shall be necessary to a choice.”

Despite a Democratic Party majority in the House, 28 state delegations have a majority of Republican Representatives. Pennsylvania is split. Michigan is likely to be split as well since Amash is leaving. Florida could end up with a split delegation. You need 26 votes to be made President. It sure looks to me that Trump could very well have those in the bag.

So the question is, how does Trump get the election into the House of Representatives. Both the 2000 election and the 1876 election provide examples. In the 2000 case, litigation over the allocation of Florida’s electoral vote resulted in a Supreme Court Case that in essence awarded that states electoral votes to Bush. In 1876, which this election is likely to look more like, competing certifications of state elections from Florida, Louisiana, and South Carolina, were presented to the President of the Senate. As a result of these contested results, neither candidate had a majority of the electoral votes. The House of Representatives are forbidden to decided the election until January 20th. In that period of time between the electoral college vote tabulation (Jan. 3) and the 20th. The Senate can attempt to resolve the electoral college issues (assuming the Supreme Court does not do another Bush v Gore to us) in that 17 day period. That was how the “Grand Compromise” of 1876 was created.
In 2000 Bush v Gore was decided on the 13th of December, well before the Electoral College was to meet on December 18. If the Supreme Court had not ruled by the 18th. the Florida election would not have been certified, and would have resulted in the election going to the House of Representatives. As in 2000 the Republicans controled a majority of House delegations
I think it is possible/probable that Trump will loose the popular vote by a significantly larger margin than 16 and still be “reelected” President. I also think, under a slightly different scenario that the Republicans throw Trump under the bus in the House of Representatives, and we end up with Pence or Harris as President and an appointed Vice-President ala Ford/Rockerfeller.

To understand how the Senate could end up appointing a President we will need to play the 20th Amendment game.

HW I know you live in a time and space divorced from the reality that the rest of us are forced to endure. All authoritarean, want to be strong guys require both foreign enemies (China, Iran, -they are real, but it is important to never reach agreements with them and to demonize them) and domestic enemies.
It is easy to make Iran or China seem to be bad and dangerous (after all they do bad things, and are capable of dangerous actions). Less easy with domestic enemies. My point was you need to brush up on the kinds of conspiracies the Leader will have to quell during his second and third terms. Hoods and thugs on the street are good for the simple minded, but to put the fear of the Leader in the hearts of the powerful you are going to have to up your game. MAGA

Steve, my buddy in the gang, only knew her phone number (I was living on the street at the time). He called her to tell her when I was supposed to show up at take the physical for the job. She never told me. Instead of going to work at HD and becoming a notorious motorcycle gang member, I got word from some friends in Ann Arbor about a printing job. Moved here instead. I got to get together with Steve back during the Detroit Newspaper Strike. He had gotten out of jail and was a lawyers guild attorney from Philadelphia by then. It was like the first time I had seen him since like 1980, he wondered why I never showed up, he told me he had left a message with my girl.

As a result of folks like you acting as amplifier cells for bullshit, 911 switchboards in Oregon were tied up with calls from people worried that if they left their homes Antifa goons were going to raid their homes and steal their possessions. Think for just a few fucking seconds about that. They are being asked to evacuate a life threatening situation but are worried that if they do then they will be burglarized by antifa.

    https://heathercoxrichardson.substack.com/p/september-11-2020

And in other news, a 32 year old woman who appears to be from Ypsilanti went after a security guard in Seattle with a machette. She apparently was accusing him and other random people of being a child molestors ( sound familiar ? ). She severed all the tendons in his left arm. Her boyfriend poured gas in an apartment a few weeks ago and lit the place up because he believed someone in there had his stolen laptop. 2 dead, six injured. Both are in jail on bail. They are raising the bail for her because she is an instagram fitness model with a large following and they are concerned her fans could raise her bail on gofundme, allowing her to jump bail.

And for the record, I don’t think there is ANYTHING that justifies the shitheads trying to seal police into the east precinct and burn them alive, the burning of the construction site on Broadway, the torching and destruction of cop cars, throwing molotov cocktails at cops, extorting local businesses, armed vigilantes ( from either “side” ), destruction of public and private property, and on and on. NOTHING justifies that. If that is what Antifa stands for and they are truly organized enough to motivate people to do this crap, then they absolutely should be labeled a domestic terrorist organization.

I’m trapped in the house today looking out the window at what looks like a sky out of an end of the world movie. The air quality index is off the charts and the visibility is somewhere around 1/4 mile.. from smoke, not fog. Smoke from Oregon and California. Un-fucking-believable.

There is a new reliable source of information Zardoz and it is clearly the real truth.
    The fires are a HOAX.
And even if they’re not, they only kill a small percentage of the population and it is mostly old and sick people who can’t evacuate fast enough who die. And you can’t even trust those numbers – if someone dies of a heart attack or respiratory failure while their house is burning down, that death is still counted as a fire death! Those scenes of houses and acres burning are all staged, false flag operations. N95 Masks kill more people than fires. Fire fighting professionals what do they know about preventing or stopping the spread of a wildfire or saving peoples lives in a fire. All they talk about is wildfire and the smoke and ignore the real danger of chemtrails. It is anti-fa that caused the fires! The media just hypes the fires to make Trump look bad and convince people climate change is real. And even if the deaths are higher, my family is fine – we don’t live in or near a forest.
So WHY is it OK to take MY rights, my right to have a campfire in the national forest, my right to light fireworks at a gender reveal, my right to ride my quad in the woods? My right to burn brush on my property any damned day I please? My right to toss my cigarette butt where ever is convenient to me? IT’S OPPRESSION. IT’S UN-AMERICAN.
I’ve done my research and you won’t change my mind. WAKE UP SHEEPLE.

Zardoz has not yet confirmed this is reality, I apologize if this turns out to be “fake news”.

The U.S District Court for Colorado issued a Temporary Restraining Order against the U.S. Postal Service finding that:
“The Notice [distributed by the U.S. Postal Service per Postmaster General DeJoy] provides false or misleading information about the manner of Colorado’s elections by stating that voters should ‘[r]equest [their] mail-in ballot (often called ‘absentee’ ballot) at least 15 days before Election Day’ and ‘mail [their] ballot at least 7 days before Election Day.’ In reality, Colorado voters do not need to request a ballot at any time. Voters who receive a ballot do not need to mail the ballot back at least 7 days before the election; they may alternatively deposit that ballot at a drop-box or may choose to vote in person up to and including on election day. If a ballot is lost for whatever reason, a Colorado voter can request a replacement ballot at any time or vote in person. Thus, the Notice, which provides patently false information regarding Colorado elections, jeopardizes Colorado’s constitutional right to establish the ‘Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections.'” (Internal citations omitted.)

Our friends in PDX we’re smelling smoke from the cop “union” hall protests on Lombard, but now everything is overwhelmed by smoke from the forest fires.

Michigan and Ontario have lots of fuelwood in place for our turn burning thanks to climate change expansion of spruce beetles and industrial forest management. We’ve had the enviable problem of too much water recently, but you’re right to suggest that our turn will come. Do people realize that in eastern commercial conifer forest we do massive scale aerial spraying of Roundup during regeneration following clear-cut? This artificially returns the forest to mono culture conifer which then is susceptible to explosive fire.

06.22.2020 | 7:29 AM | CHULA VISTA – An arsonist was arrested after being caught on camera fueling a brush fire he reportedly started, Monday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of a fire burning in a large field of brush near a homeless encampment at the intersection of Marine Parkway and J Street around 7:29 AM.

Units arriving on scene located the fire with a man, who witnesses say started the fire, throwing contents into the flames and fueling the fire.

Officers took the man into custody after he attempted to walk away and hide in the field.

The fire was quickly extinguished before it could cause any serious damage.

The man told officers he did not start the fire but admitted to fueling the flames by throwing contents into the flames.

She ( my sister’s friend ) is helping to shelter goats in the city for a friend who has a farm down there. My understanding is that they had to leave the chickens behind. The fires are in their suburbs. My heart aches for these people. They are losing everything in some instances.

The air quality is awful right now, but we really can’t complain about it when compared to the people that are losing their homes and in some instances their entire towns. The fires are jumping the cascades this year and it is unnerving. There is a fire south of Seattle in the Sumner / Bonney Lake area. They are starting to evacuate people as it is moving closer to homes.

Zardoz wanted to be sure we knew the current status of stage 3 vaccine trials so we can know BS when we begin hearing it as we approach the election

According to the WHO, as of September 9, there are nine (9) potential vaccines currently in Phase 3 testing. (There are a total of twelve Phase 3 tests because some of the potential vaccines are the subject of more than one Phase 3 test.) The earliest that any Phase 3 test for any of these potential vaccines is expected to be completed is May 1, 2021. Here are the tests with links to further information as to each one.

University of Oxford/AstraZeneca—Two Phase 3 tests. One has an expected end date of October 31, 2021. The other has an expected end date of October 5, 2022.
CanSino Biological Inc./Beijing Institute of Biotechnology—Two Phase 3 tests, one of which has a projected completion date of January 30, 2022 and the other has a projected completion date of July 31, 2021.
Gamaleya Research Institute—Projected completion date May 1, 2021.
    Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies—Not yet recruiting.
Sinovac—Two tests, neither of which gives any projected date for completion. One is still recruiting. The other is so sketchy that it’s difficult to figure out where it is.
Wuhan Institute of Biological Products/Sinopharm— “Study Execute Time” is July 15, 2021.
Beijing Institute of Biological Products/Sinopharm— “Study Execute Time” is July 15, 2021.
    Moderna/NIAID—Projected study completion date—October 27, 2022.

Up to 90% of samples are amplified to the point of rendering the result unusable so that ought to tell you something. Almost all positive tests are unreliable. Anecdotes like your daughter’s co-worker mean nothing to me. That could be not what happened at all.

Oh I meant that FF. For sure. Literally. HW minimizes the disease. He should get it and see what it’s really like. He says it’s no big deal so what’s wrong with wishing it on him? Or is HW wrong and such a wish is violent? Are you willing say HW is wrong, FF?

EOS, I’m sure you and HW, with your Q connections, could have gotten us all in ahead of all those hordes waiting in line.

Faithful Friend, Trump does occasionally point out some truisms. His comments the other day about the MIC for example. His actions over 3.5 years though demonstrated he is a total tool for them. As long as they let him continue in his lawless aggrandizements of power and wealth he will continue to let them have their wars and profiteering.

What do you think about that SD AG? Seems like he is the perfect embodiment of Trumpism. Party like it is 1975, grab the money and run. Let some one else pick up the road kill. MAGA

    JH,

I have not heard HW say it is not a big deal. I don’t know if HW is taking precautions or not. I do know that Lynne has admitted to doing things I do not feel comfortable doing and she is more at risk than I am. I know people who are more cautious and less cautious than me. I just follow the guidlines. For all I know HW follows the guidelines too.

I am glad young people are at much less risk. Some diseases do not work that way. Do you wish otherwise?

    Wobblie,

When is the last time a president did not go into a new war? Who was the last president to talk about defense contractors like that? I have never heard a president say anything about the military industrial complex like that. People can attack Trump on a lot of things but it is clear he thinks endless foreign wars are a bad idea. And I think that is great.

I recognize that most people are younger than me, and wonder what is the reference to 1975? MAD was not formed until 1980, the legal limit in the 70’s was nearly twice what it is today.

Fact Finder, what evidence is there that young people are at much less risk? AIDs was known of for several years before we learned that it “hid” in our bodies dormant until some other stress activated its spread in the body again. We had known about the link between chicken pox and shingles at least since the mid-50’s. We were unable to create a safe and effective vaccine until 2006. We have know about hepatitis b and c and how the effects from those viruses are not apparent for decades in some cases.
I happen to believe that it is the height of stupid arrogance and greed to use an entire generation of our young as Guinee Pigs. We know now that 60 to 70 % of asymptomatic individuals regardless of age experience heart inflammation. We call the trumpvirus a respiratory illness because that it its primary means of transmission. We are now learning that though it effects the lungs, it maybe more of a cardio vascular illness.

    Wobblie,

Good point. We have evidence that young people are at a much less IMMEDIATE risk. A lot less. You are right though. It could turn out that it lies dormant and causes all kinds of problems later. It is way beyond my scope of knowledge to speculate.

It was just over a hundred years ago when the masters of the universe in their stupidity, arrogance and greed sacrificed 9 million lives. An entire generation of European young men were wiped out.
I had the good fortune to get to spend an afternoon with Black Jack Pershing’s aide de camp, James Lawton Collins, he was a very old man at the time and I couldn’t have been but 9 or 10. I liked his stories about chasing Poncho Villa around Mexico more than the WWI and WWII stories he had. I think it was his nephew who went to the moon.

    Vague Guy!

Which part of what HW said is untrue though? Show why what he said is untrue in your opinion. Then show how his misapprehension leads him to a mis-assessment of the risk of covid. Further show how his mis-assessment of the risk of covid is translating into his advocacy or practice of policy and behavior that is unreasonable.

Your vague and overly simplistic approach is silly. You are saying nothing—always. It’s so strange…

Just answer a simple question: For teens and younger the flu is more immediately deadly. Yes or no? If Yes then does agreeing on that fact mean you think covid is it a big deal? Of course not.

“The 1918 pandemic was unusual in that it killed many healthy 20- to 40-year-olds, including millions of World War I soldiers. In contrast, people who die of the flu are usually under five years old or over 75.”

I should have said Bacterial Pneumonia was most often the ultimate cause of death in 1918 pandemic “Spanish Flu” cases.

Viruses trigger a cascade of conditions. It is ultimately one of these conditions that does the infected person in. Shit for brains thinks that means they didn’t die of the virus.

FF, first you need to remember that life expectancy in 1918 was shorter particularly for working folks, the percent of the population over 60 was smaller-and relatively much more affluent. My grand-mother died from the influenza. It has been horribly short sighted for folks to constantly use influenza as a comparison. This is a corona virus, not at all like an influenza virus.
At one point you opine that you don’t have a clue of the long term health consequences of contracting this virus. But then you go on to argue, ” Further show how his mis-assessment of the risk of covid is translating into his advocacy or practice of policy and behavior that is unreasonable.

I can only assume that you are on board with using our youth as sacrifices to scientific knowledge. And you folks take exception to being called a death cult, oy vey.

    FF,

HW keeps trying to claim COVID-19 deaths aren’t actually caused by COVID-19. In almost every saw they most certainly are. The SARS-CoV-2 virus attacks various organs and causes a cascade of conditions to occur or drastically worsen.

The H1N1 flu virus in 1918 caused the deaths of tens of millions of people, but what finally brought death were resulting conditions like pneumonia.

Even in those rare cases where a person was already suffering from pneumonia when they became infected with H1N1, they died almost certainly as a result of the virus worsening the condition. The majority of H1N1 deaths in 1918 and 1919 were from pneumonia brought on by the H1N1 virus.

It is similar with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Most deaths are likely to end up being from pneumonia brought on by the virus.

As far as the differences in who dies from any particular virus, that depends on many variables, certainly. Wobblie pointed out one which makes a lot of sense. We now have many more people over the age of 60 these days, and this SARS-CoV-2 virus probably wouldn’t have killed so many people had it first appeared a century ago. There wouldn’t have been so many people vulnerable to it.

Various viruses have particular characteristics which result in some more particular consequences. Some tend to seem to strike most severely at a particular organ. Some seem to be most destructive to infants. Some more destructive to people with certain genetic in common.

You know I am so slow on catching on to things. My cousin, who is no slouch in the intelligence department made me realize what Trump meant when he was saying he didn’t want to cause a “panic”. He was referring to the time he and his family needed to unload all the entertainment, travel, resort stocks they had.
I’ve not done a time line. It would be interesting to know how much money the Trump Organization, and its various friends saved, while the Leader kept feeding the stock market fables. Talk about the lowest kind of self dealing.
