This was probably the first real sex scene I ever saw in a film, and I think it’s still probably my favorite, even with the terrible part where Bogart asks her to remove her glasses, which always makes me cringe.
So, what’s you’re favorite movie sex scene, either seen or implied?
Oh, and if you’ve never seen The Big Sleep, you really should. Maybe wait until it gets a little cooler outside, and then block an evening off, bake some cookies, make a pot of tea, and do it right. This is good advice. Trust me.

EOS will leave some stupid comment about how sex in movies can cure “gayism” and provide us with links showing that it has worked for more the 100,000 people.
The 100,000 gays that were “cured” were likely just hardcore Christians who secretly enjoyed Will and Grace and felt as though they were turning gay. As for favorite sex scenes, I’m partial to the one at the end of It Happened One Night, which is also implied.
You must never have seen The Room.

There’s an implied sex scene in The Devil and Daniel Webster where just after Jabez sells his soul to the devil, he gets frisky and embraces his wife, the camera pans away out the window showing the field outside and dissolves to the next morning showing a farmer plowing a row behind an ox. It’s not very subtle, which makes it highly effective, probably provocative for 1941, and hilarious. As Halloween is coming up, give this movie a shot if you are looking for something classic that’s creepy, but not over the top.
If you are a white, American male, our age, and you say anything besides “Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool in Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” I think you are just a pretentious liar.
I’m surprised that no one has mentioned Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader in Secretary.
There are a couple of sex scenes in Pedro Almodovar’s La Ley del Deseo (Law of Desire, 1987) that stand out to me still as maybe the first time I saw gay sex depicted unapologetically. One involved a young (and very handsome) Antonio Banderas. Maybe my first most memorable is Daniel Day-Lewis and Gordon Warnecke in 1985’s My Beautiful Launderette. They were playful and flirty. Sweet little film.
Bugs Bunny in drag always left me feeling weird.
Speaking of Fast Times, as I recall, when I was taking a film class in college, our professor talked at length about a sex scene in the film involving Jennifer Jason Leigh. According to him, it was one of the first sex scenes in popular American film shot from the perspective of the female protagonist. (Fast Times was directed by a woman, Amy Heckerling.) So maybe that scene should be in consideration, although, as I recall, it wasn’t terribly sexy. Also, climbing out of a pool does not qualify as sex. I’ll concede, however, that it was memorable.
I have something for you, Bob.

Thank for mentioning gay sex scenes. I’m sure EOS hasn’t posted yet on this thread because he’s fully engorged having looked them up online.
Thank you also for mentioning The Room. I think I can do better though. Do you remember the sex scene in the pool from Showgirls?
It’s NSFW.

I didn’t know sex scenes were included in movies. I’ve only seen G rated.
Best ghost oral? The original Ghostbusters.

Most people would agree that it was more likely rape than sex, but there were implied relations between Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh in A Streetcar Named Desire.
What’s the matter, boy? I bet you can squeal. I bet you can squeal like a pig. Let’s squeal. Squeal now! Squeal like a pig!
So tame by today’s standards, but I distinctly remember getting my first “what’s going on down there?” moment from The Cars’ 1984 video for “Hello Again”.

Thanks, Andy Warhol.
Bob, I was just telling someone last night how Phoebe Cates is my friend’s cousin. He had no idea who she was until I said, “Fast Times. Pool. Red bikini” and then it all became clear.
The Room sex scenes are amazing and make me kinda sad that I don’t have an actual favorite to share. But I will share that the first porn scene I ever saw was when I was 10, and my best friend and I found the scrambled Playboy Channel. It unscrambled at the exact moment that a guy was down on a girl and we had NO idea what that was. We laughed so hard that she peed her pants. Nowadays, you can see people having bukkake sex with goats* at the click of a button, and my 10 year old self weeps.
*I presume. I haven’t actually Googled that.
Fast Times is a really fine great film, on many levels. It felt like the most authentic movie of its genre. Sadly, they are currently shooting a unnecessary remake.
“Hello!!”
….
“So long, pal.”
My favorite sex scene was the one implied in the movie Twins, between Danny DeVito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Now that I think about it, whenever Schwarzenegger has a male co-star, the implied sex scenes are among the best.
