It won’t get much coverage, seeing as how Donald Trump’s extremely colorful personal physician has resurfaced in today’s news cycle, but Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein said something today that I very much liked, and I wanted to be sure to at least note it here.
When asked about a recent story in the Washington Post concerning the fact that Trump-allied House conservatives in the so-called “Freedom Caucus” had started drafting articles of impeachment against him in hopes of stopping the Mueller investigation, the Deputy Attorney General, who was speaking at a Law Day event at Washington’s Newseum, responded by saying, “I can tell you that there are people who have been making threats privately and publicly against me for quite some time. And I think they should understand by now the Department of Justice is not going to be extorted.” [Not bad for a Trump appointee, right?]

The bar is admittedly very, very low, but Rosenstein holds the title of #MyFavoriteTrumpAppointee.
I’m reminded of this quote from Sarah Huckabee Sanders about Rod Rosenstein from back before the indictments:
“He is the Gold Standard.”
I liked that too but I still find Nikki Haley to be my favorite Trump appointee. But yeah, low bar there.
Nikki Haley is the absolute worst.
Cookie Cutter right winger.
She is simply able to speak in complete sentences, unlike our President.
This is all going to make for a great opera someday. Many operas actually. There are so many bit players who are fascinating characters in their own right. It’s going to be epic. I hope it ends with Trump doing a perp walk. I really do. But I doubt that will ever happen.
Rosenstein is out at the Justice Department.
