This is Donald. Don’t be like Donald.

We know that Donald Trump and members of his administration have had direct personal contact with least two people who, shortly after their interactions, have tested positive for coronavirus. Trump had dinner with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro’s communications director, Fábio Wajngarten, at Mar-a-Lago, who afterward tested positive for the virus. And, the President’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, along with Attorney General William Barr, and acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf, met in Washington with Australian Home Affairs Minister, Peter Dutton, who likewise also tested positive after the interaction. In spite of this, however, the President has refused to self-quarantine, or, for that matter, even stop shaking hands. [Trump was also on Air Force One with Representative Matt Gaetz after his exposure to the virus at CPAC.]

Yesterday, in the White House Rose Garden, Donald Trump, when asked whether or not he intended to be tested himself, said, “Well, I didn’t say I wasn’t going to be tested.” And, when pressed, he added, “Most likely, yeah. Most likely. Not for that reason, but because I think I will do it anyway.” Later that night, however, the President’s physician, a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, put out a statement saying that it wasn’t necessary for the President to be tested, as his exposure was “extremely limited.” [I have nothing against D.O.s, by the way. I’d just rather have a virologist make this call.]

I don’t want to spend too much time on this, as I think there are more important things for us to be discussing right now than Donald Trump’s inability to act presidential in time of crisis, but I do think it’s worth noting just how odd it is to have a leader that so vehemently refuses to model decent, responsible behavior during a public health emergency. By refusing to cancel rallies, insisting on shaking hands, and doing things like repeatedly touching microphones, he’s not only modeling bad behavior, but he’s putting Americans at risk. And some of those Americans, like Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health, who you can see in the photo above, are really fucking important right now.

Here’s footage, in case anyone needs any more evidence, of Donald Trump modeling bad public health behavior, which, by the way, stands in sharp contrast to that of his predecessor, who went so far as to have photographers accompany him as he got vaccinated against the H1N1 virus.

The post worked. Donald Trump now says that he’s been tested. No word on whether he’s cancelling rallies.

I sure hope everyone in the administration gets through this. I’d hate to imagine any of them experiencing a moment of discomfort.

I hope they all fucking die a miserable, painful, shitting and pissing themselves death. Every single one of them. Sorry.

But then what would we all do without their invaluable, steadfast leadership? We’d all be lost.

There are still good people in the deep state. I suspect Anthony Fauci is one of them. And I’d hate to lose them right now because they’re being called into meetings with Donald “dirty hands, big rally” Trump.

What we are all holding our breath about is, Has Kevin Bacon been tested yet?” That would really be catastrophic.

I met Kevin Bacon in 2007. Fortunately, we both practiced social distancing.

The White House just announced that Trump tested negative. What a relief.
