Remember how I was asking for the President to install an Emergency Financial Manager in place of our Governor? Well, Colbert is doing me one better. He’s suggesting that we just hand over our entire nation to an Emergency Financial Manager – someone who isn’t afraid to make the tough calls, like at what age people should get put onto ice flows, and who among us should be culled from the herd to become Soylent Green.
Who would have thought that comedians would have had this much material after George Bush left the national stage? It sounds incredibly naive, but I honestly thought that Colbert and Stewart would be struggling to stay relevant. I thought that we were actually entering into a new age of reason.

you know who i’m talkin’ about… americans.
I cannot remember a time when Michigan received so much negative national press. It’s hard for me to imagine that it will translate into more people deciding to either stay here after college, or move here from somewhere else, but maybe I’m just not smart enough to understand Rick’s plan.
While I was watching this I wondered if you would post it here. I was impressed that Colbert used his “The Word” segment on this topic.
Anyway, speaking of Michigan on political tv programs, Virg Bernero has been on Rachel Maddow more than a few times and I have been pretty impressed by him.
” I thought that we were actually entering into a new age of reason.” ….. how wrong you were on that one.
