By now you’ve probably heard that our friends at SPUR Studios are opening an Ann Arbor satellite location. What you might not have heard, though, is that they’re having an open house tomorrow, Saturday, February 12, so that people can see the new studio spaces for themselves. Here’s a quick video tour. If you want to see it in person, plan to be at 625 State Circle in Ann Arbor at 2:00.
A floor plan of the new space can be found here.
Those interested in knowing more about SPUR might want to check out my interview with James Marks on the SPUR concept, which can be found here. For those of you not afraid to venture into Ypsi, James will also be among our guests on Saturday night, at the taping of Dreamland Tonight, which is going to be, for the most part, about local entrepreneurs.

Is there still an arts community in Ann Arbor? I thought that we’d won that war.
K2: this is Ypsilanti’s version of the Marshall Plan.
The idea is to use these non-Ypsi Spur locations as something like roach hotels. They’re traps meant to lure in their remaining artists so that they can be brought back to Ypsi and/or destroyed.
How do I get to see the taping of Dreamland Tonight? I own an interest in two businesses on Michigan Ave. in Ypsilanti and have seen a great number of my business neighbors fail over about a 12 year period. I would like to see/hear what these entrepenuers have to say, for my own sake as well as my neighbors present and future. I clicked on Dreamland Tonight but no results.
