Linette, Clementine and I went to Festival Latino this afternoon in Riverside Park and had a great time. Linette and I ate beans and rice while Clementine got to roll around in the grass for the first time in her life. It was a great afternoon and I was particularly happy to see so many groups, political and otherwise, actively involved. The local hospitals were doing free health screenings. Universities were on hand talking about higher education. The Democrats, the Republicans, and a few non-partisan groups were there getting people registered to vote. Folks from the library were talking about bi-lingual library services. It was just really cool. I was happier this afternoon than Ive been in quite a while. Its cool to see people coming together on such a beautiful day and talking about things like democracy, education and what we can achieve if we all work together.
