see what you would have missed

If you dont read the comments section here at MM.com you miss important things, like this letter from a reader who was once a small child:

Those recruiting tactics kind of reminded me of what a local Baptist Church near where I grew up did one summer for their Vacation Bible School/Christian Indoctrination of the Young. One day a unicycle riding, bugle-blowing clown showed up on our street, spouting riddles and jokes, and performing some half-assed magic tricks. After about a dozen or so neighborhood kids had gathered around to watch this unusual spectacle, the clown jumped up on his unicycle, and said something like “Everyone who wants to find out about Jesus–FOLLOW ME!!!” At that point, as if on cue, a rickety old church bus pulled up, and the clown stood aside it’s open door like that Child-snatcher in the movie “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.” There were no takers, and eventually the bus rattled away, the clown peering out dejectedly from behind his make-up. It was one of the scarier moments of my childhood.

Yawn, surely you arent insinuating, by this Jesus in his pants comment, that this clown was wrangling kids for some more sinister purpose… Id hate to think something like that about a wonderful, joy-bringing clown. It might ruin my love of them forever.
