I have to wake up and go to work at 5:30 AM tomorrow morning, so I won’t be staying up late to read the news and agonize over my silly, little posts… So, I’d like to open the floor to your comments. If you have anything to say, here’s your chance. Feel free to criticize the site, tell us about yourself, or just recommend a favorite TV show or podcast. Seriously, if you’ve got something to say, anything at all, here’s your chance. Surely you have something interesting to share, even if it’s just a distant memory of your first kiss, a favorite recipe, a guess as to when the Republicans will have DeLay “terminated,” or some piece of practical advice that we can all learn from.

This sounds like lazy-man blogging. I want to say that I found a picture of yer new car but I can’t scan it in because I don’t have a scanner. I am amish when it comes to digitizing images, which is to say, I don’t believe in it in my own home, but it is quite alright if I do it in other peoples homes. So, ma

I think you should do city tour pod casts and start a site. Kind of like a ” Tour of the Stars”, but maybe info about corporate scandals, crooked politicians and other interesting historical tidbits slathered with sarcasm. Actually, I think that Brett and you together could probably do a damn fine job of it. You could sell ads/ endorsements to smaller independently owned shops, restaurants and hotels.
The idea of a podcast guided tour of cities that no one goes to is even more intriguing.

You could go the other route and do a few sample cities, shop it around and get funding to do more and put a site up. Then the tough thing would be traveling all the time, and that is not always as fun as it sounds.
I think that Virgin is doing something like this as an add on service to their airline. There is something else called iToor or iTour that is similar.
I really liked the new “Commander in Chief” series on ABC. Geena Davis is wicked cool.

You noted on some recent post, that this site has no definite mission or some such thing. I don’t really think you need one, either (Although for some reason “Spitting into the wind” comes to mind). I enjoy the interesting dialog here much more than listening to or reading things I primarily agree with. So, I listen to Ed Schultz and Randi R. and Mitch Albom with more interest than Rush and Hannity.
I see this site as the neighborhood barbecue, where anyone can drop in any time, even that irritating neighbor who never cuts his grass.
I lived in Europe for a year, and always enjoyed a good argument with friends who understood that you can disagree with someone yet still share a nice krug of pilsner with them. Cheers!
Hey I’m the one on my block who never cuts my grass, surprise surprise. I do tend to be able to wither it with my gimlet eye of doom on a fairly regular basis though, thereby keeping it less conspicous than Joe Tibonis across the way
If readers of this site haven’t discovered the short fiction author, George Saunders, let me recommend him. He not only has a world view (and a future world view) that can only be described as idiosynchratic, he also has developed wonderful dialogue to accompany it. Everyone speaks like a cross between advertising copy and mall rats.
His first book was CivilWarLand in Bad Decline. His second was Pastoralia. Both are fine, as are his stories in The New Yorker.
And for those who haven’t discovered him yet, let me recommend Harry Stephen Keeler. There’s a nice appreciation of him at http://home.williampoundstone.net/Keeler/

Your prayers, by the way, didn’t help a lick. I still got the cold that I was afraid of. Fortunately it’s not that bad though. The only bad thing is that Clementine and Linette have it to. In fact, it’s Clementine’s first real cold. I suppose it had to happen sooner or later, but it makes me sad to hear her coughing.
