I’m tired, but I can’t sleep. It probably doesn’t help that I’m listening to the Ramones… I miss them.

i like how peaceful everyone looks in the audience. it’s not the image of early punk that you get from popular culture at all.
The Ramones just kind of happened. It was like magic. Four boys in Queens who didn’t know the rules of music, so they set out to recreate them. It’s a beautiful American story.
I don’t think the Ramones set out to recreate or break any rules. They wanted to be the Beatles, the Beach Boys, the Ronettes, or a hundred other great pop bands. They just didn’t have the chops to be like those other artists. They loved and were inspired by the Stooges, but I don’t think they wanted to be like them. Those are pure POP songs, they belong on oldies radio in between “Fun, Fun, Fun,” and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand.” One of the greatest pop bands of all time. Dee Dee was as great as Paul McCartney.
The Ramones were place here by God to teach us the meaning of Rock and Roll, and the died for our sins.
There’s going to be a movie about CBGB. The following is from the Guardian.

I’ve probably mentioned it here before but Dee Dee Ramone used to live in Ann Arbor, in that apartment building on South Forest Ave right at the east end of Oakland Ave. Some people may remember the parties he used to throw there. I only became aware of his living there because I went with a friend of mine to serve him with a summons. His ex was suing him.
