flint… it’s the shit

A Swedish firm has announced plans to open a human waste-fueled biogas plant in the economic wasteland of Flint, Michigan. They even say the King of Sweden will be coming over to break ground for the facility, which will be located right next to the City’s waste treatment plant. The whole thing to sounds like a Yes Men stunt, but, sadly, I think it’s true. I think the Europeans have finally figured out what we – the gluttonous, weeble wobble creatures of the United States of Consumption – are good for. Our shit… And I’m not talking about elegant, little, European turds. We fill toilet bowls, Goddamnit. We are shit-making machines!

There’s something really poetic and beautiful about that, I think.

Anything that moves Taco Night from being simply a tasty thing to being the centerpiece of the economic strength of a community, I’m all for.

Also, glutenous? We’re like plant proteins found primarily in cereal grains like wheat and corn?

Good catch, Thomas. Thanks… And, yeah, I like the idea of us having to eat at Taco Bell for the good of all mankind.

    Easy, there, fella!
I am not a huge fan of Flint, but I live near there and know many, many really good people that live there as well.
People that are trying hard to make it in what seems like an impossible situation.

I am laughing at your article and comments, but lets take it easy on the people of Flint. Remember, you can’t make a good cutting sword with-out pounding medal in a really hot fire. This place will rebound and could become a powerhouse. It just needs good, honest leadership. It has the people!

By the way, the irony of my username is not lost on me. I chose it many years ago, thinking of myself first (I am number one in my own world). I guess now I am just shit (or piss, right?)! LOL

By the 2050, America will be nothing but a giant methane farm, and all of us nothing more than cattle. Oh wait, I meant to say by 20:50.

Hey, BigNumOne, sorry if it came across as a jab at Flint. It wasn’t meant as one. Sometimes, in my eagerness to present material in an engaging way, I go to far. I know some folks from Flint and their good people, and I wouldn’t want to suggest that they’re only good for their waste.

With all that said, I still think it’s humorous that shit may be this states primary output. Other states get solar, and wind. We contribute shit. There is something poetic about it.

Anyway, I’m sorry if I offended you. Since I’m here in Michigan too, I feel as though I can say things like that. Maybe I need to censor myself more.

    Thanks for reading.

The Chinese have been using humanure for years… I think it’s a good idea. Talk about a zero-waste society!

A guy sitting at the bus stop and notices another man trying over and over to light his lighter and asks, “Outta flint?”.

The man looks up and answers, “No, Hamtramck”.

Well, you know the old saying, “If life gives you shit coming out of your anus, make biofuel.”

Oh, I was not offended. Like I said I know some really good people there and felt the need to stand up for them a little.
The comments were taken as they were intended.
I am thin skinned, but not that thin. I mean, look at my user name. (I used to use “dogface” and took a lot of junk for that.
It is good we are looking at every source of “fuel”. But it is pretty funny that we are using human waste. Particularly since you need only go 10 or 20 miles in any direction around Flint and you will find cattle, horses, pigs and chickens.
    Talk about a “Bignumtwo”! Ha-ha!
