shocking photos in the “free press”

According to a story I just heard on the radio, today’s “Detroit Free Press” contains an article justifying their inclusion of a photo yesterday of a wounded young man being carried from the site of the Virginia Tech mass murder. It seems as though there were multiple complaints from people, angry that they’d included the bloody photo… But, it wasn’t the blood, or the gore, that upset these Michigan readers — it was the fact that they thought that they were able to see the tiniest piece of this dying young man’s penis. (The “Free Press” maintains that it is in fact part of his shirt.) As far as I know, there were no complains demanding to know why they chose to publish yet another gratuitous piece of what is essentially mass murder porn. But apparently the male penis, this thing that we’re born with as innocent little babies, was enough to send people, trembling with anger and fear, to their computers, where they hammered out letters of complaint. I’d love to read them. No doubt they claimed that this milimeter of cock skin was endangering our youth.
