my favorite fascist, japan’s toyama koichi

Why can’t our Fascists in the United States be this up-front? I find it refreshing… All these images of Toyama Koichicome come from a speech in which he announces that he’s running for Governor of Tokyo. It’s been haunting me since I saw it referenced on Metafilter a few days ago. I know absolutely nothing about his politics, or what “minority” it is that he keeps claiming to represent, but the punk rock nihilism of the message really appeals to me. If I were in charge, we’d have an “I hate you and I want to destroy everything” candidate on every ballot… And preferably he’d be bald and dressed all in black.

I love how he ends by saying, “Please give me a call.” That’s what makes it genius.

You neglected to mention that he really ends the speech by flipping the bird to the viewer. That is a great video all around.
I can definitely see this attaining cult status.
What he needs is some good theme music though.

I heard somewhere that he got over 20,000 votes in the election. Can someone verify that?

indeed mark, he is refreshing. i agree every electoral contest should have ‘the minority’ angst available to ‘we the people’…..now i ask, do you dare listen in more depth to what in translation may come out a tad corroded yet may be the birth pangs of something momentous!!!

Dammit, Mark, you were the only place on the web that this existed (that I can find), and YouTube’s taken it down. Fuck!

He is not a fascist. He is either a Communist or Anarchist, as he is very very on the left. He’s most likely extremely anti-fascist.
