ouch, what was that?

Our old friend Ubu wanted me to share this with you… It appears as though legislation has just been introduced in the Michigan House that would prohibit you from implanting a microchip in another person without their consent. Here’s a clip from House bill number 4133:

January 25, 2007, Introduced by Reps. Pearce, Stahl, Opsommer, Green, Meekhof, Ward, Rick Jones, Miller, Rocca and Dean and referred to the Committee on Judiciary.

A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled “The Michigan penal code,” (MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 539l.

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 539l. A person shall not place or implant a radio frequency identification chip or other microchip into or upon the body of an individual without the prior consent of the individual. A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 1 year or a fine of not more than $10,000.00, or both.

So, consider this fair warning. If you want to embed a radio frequency identification chip, or chips, into someone, and you live in Michigan, you’d better hurry up and do it before this bill passes… Or start planning a trip to Ohio.

I always have my androids insert chips into people, which, by the bill’s wording, is still legal.

I lobbied to have a provision added which would have allowed the practice of implanting chips into unsuspecting citizens if it could be proved that “such action could in some way help to get Michigan’s fucking economy out of this god damn nose dive!” My measure failed, mostly because I refused to drop “fucking” and “god damn” from the wording. A majority was alright with the exclamation mark being left in.
