two local men are killed in iraq

A reader by the name of Andrew Shaver just brought it to my attention that Marines from both Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti died this last week in Iraq. Lance Cpl. Minhee Kim, 20, of Ann Arbor and Cpl. Gary A. Koehler, 21, of Ypsilanti, both died in the Anbar province of Iraq on Wednesday… It’s also worth noting that recent polling shows 61% of Americans now favor the staged withdrawal of military forces in Iraq.

I do not know these two families … but the news on my drive home from Detroit the other night brought tears to my eyes. I can’t stand this constant trickle of woe for our kids.

As the brilliant Brit reporter Christopher Kitchens said recently (sic) … “Iraq is not oil for blood … it is blood for NO oil.”

Even if there was oil … the price is too high.

God bless these two families and the souls of their sons.

    Actually it’s “Shitchens”.

Yeah, if that old alcoholic, Christopher Hitchens, said that, it’s the only bright thing he’s said in the past three years. He’s completely lost his mind.

He DOES like his scotch … but I like his acidity, though not his message always. He’s right about blood/oil, however … on the barrelhead.
