Our friends at Bike Ypsi have something great planned for “Curb Your Car Month.” Every Friday in May, they’ll be organizing bicycle commutes between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. Here’s a clip from their email announcement:
…We will gather in the morning at Bombadill’s coffee shop (217 W Michigan Ave) for specials on coffee and baked goods. From there we ride to St. Joseph’s Hospital and Washtenaw Community College, through Gallup Park, across U-M central campus, and end up in downtown Ann Arbor. We will reverse our route for the trip home, leaving from AA City Hall (100 N Fifth Ave) and ending at Haab’s (18 W Michigan Ave in downtown Ypsilanti) for free happy hour appetizer with every bike helmet!
Riders are welcome to join or leave the ride wherever is most convenient for their commute. Feel free to ride with us out to AA, home to Ypsi, or both. Helmets are strongly encouraged.
On May 2, 9, 23, 30, we will meet at 8:00am at Bombadill’s and 5:15pm at AA City Hall…
If you are a bike commuter who can’t ride with us or uses a different route, please feel free to join us for pre-work coffee at Bombadill’s or Bike Ypsi Happy Hour at Haab’s every Friday in May!
Bike Ypsi would like to thank Bombadill’s coffee shop and Haab’s restaurant for their generous support of these rides!
How cool is that?

I’ve heard that once the A2/Ypsi area commuter/riders offer one of these, Mark might even join you.
No, no, Ol’ E Cross, Mark will ride to AA with us. He rode the 17 mile loop with us around Ford Lake last fall — the ride to AA is shorter (okay, well there is that matter of the ride back…) and there is coffee in the morning and good beer upon returning home!
Yup. I’m planning to ride. It’ll just take a little coordination as it will put at work later than usual. I think I can figure it out though. And I’m looking forward to it.
