I just had dinner with some friends. During dinner, I mentioned this idea that I had. They liked it, so I thought that I’d mention it here…. By way of background, I should start by mentioning that there’s a restaurant here in town called Haab’s. It’s a local institution. If I’m not mistaken, it’s been around since the 1930’s. Anyway, once a year, they roll back their prices to what they would have been back during the depression, or whenever it was that they first opened their doors. It’s great fun. They get lines down the block… There’s also a movie theater in our town. Or, at least, it used to be a movie theater. Back in the early 1900’s, it was called the Martha Washington. Today, it’s a strip club called DejaVu, where, I’m told, women can writhe around completely nude, because they don’t serve alcohol. So, men sip fruit juice and stare sadly into the orifices of coeds. Anyway, here’s the idea. On one day a year, preferably the same day that Haab’s rolls back their prices, DejaVu becomes the Martha Washington again. The women still perform lap dances and everything, but they do so by candlelight, in powered wigs, and dance to blaring harpsichord music.

but also i’ll take this opportunity to ask if any millionaires out there are interested in buying the deja vu and turning it back into a movie theater. call it the martha vu perhaps. i think it’d be a huge improvement for the city of ypsi.
i dont know what the current owners would accept for the place, but i’m guessing it’d have to be a lot. if anyone knows their asking price i’d be interested to know.
