the ypsilanti symphony orchestra

Linette, Clementine and I had a great time on Saturday afternoon, listening to the Ypsilanti Symphony Orchestra perform in Riverside Park. It was a beautiful day, the symphony sounded great, and everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun. I know it’s got to be a lot of work to get something like this to happen, and I think I speak for everyone there on Saturday when I say that the effort was very much appreciated. I don’t know if it’s been discussed, but I’d very much like to see this become a regular event… One suggestion, though. Next time, proofread the signs.

    Free Concert Today … OK

Ypsi Pops! … could be read several ways, but I’ll take it on good faith that this means a symphony “pop”ular tunes concert. So far, so good.

2 PM … fine. Clear enough.

Riverside Park … my favorite place.

Ypsilani Symphony Orchestra … OK. Here’s the deal.

Now, folks let me tell you what it means. Ya’ got one, two, three, four, five six, pockets in a table .. pockets that make the difference between a gentleman and a bum … and that starts with “B” and that rhymes with “T” and that stands for …

The “T” is missing! I can’t finish my diatribe. Oh, well. Mark, you are right.

“Never mind gettin’ the screen door patched or the beef steak pounded. Never mind pumpin’ any water, till the cistern’s empty on a Saturday night, and that’s trouble. With a capital “T” … that’s missing from the sign. Yikes!

    Yp … si … lan … TI!

I love this town and each of you in it.

    G’night.

It’s not just Ypsilani that’s spelled wrong either.

Maybe you can’t see it in the picture, but it’s a “sympnony orchestra”.
