As I mentioned a few weeks ago, there’s a DJ at a college radio station outside of San Francisco that’s working on a feature about my one-day-a-year band, the Monkey Power Trio. I just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago. It was strange. I’ve been interviewed about the band before, but I’ve never been interviewed by someone who has actually liked the music. I wasn’t prepared for obscure questions about lyrics and my cover drawings. It was cool. I think we talked for over an hour.
I’m anxious to see what he comes up with. (Then again, I’m anxious about everything.) Before hanging up, he told me that it might be a four-hour special by the time he’s done with it. Not only is he going to include interviews with everyone in the band (so far, he’s called four out of the five of us), but he’s going to play every song we’ve ever released (except for those songs that are deemed offensive by management). For those of you who would like to listen-in, the show is scheduled to begin on station KFJC at 10:00 PM EST on May 20, and they’ll be streaming it live online… I don’t give investment advice here on the site too often, but if I were you, and I wanted to get rich quick, I’d invest everything I had in Monkey Power vinyl and collectables. Once this show airs throughout the Foothill-De Anza Community College district, I think it’s going to be a sellers’ market for Monkey Power merch, and lots of fortunes are going to be made.
[note: An earlier version of this post stated that the show would start at 4:00 PM EST on May 20. That was incorrect. The show will begin at 10:00 EST. Thank you to those of you who pointed it out to me.]

I just flashed on the Nairobi Trio … Ernie Kovaks. ANOTHER mad genius.
TOO funny, Egpenet.
Mark, I hope you’ll remind MM.com readers–and provide the link–closer to the date. Good news!
I was told it will air 7-10pm PDT, which would be 10pm-1am EDT.
That only gives us about 60 days to get the FCC to revoke their license. Come on people! Let’s start writing those letters. We can do this!
hi again Mark and all. it’s me, the KFJC guy.
it was fun talking to the MPT guys yesterday.
a couple of things:
first of all, yeah, the special will start at 7 pm west coast time, meaning it would start at 10 pm for people in the east.
also, if I don’t play a certain song because it’s offensive, that would be due to the FCC (profanity) or maybe my own personal taste (not a big fan of penis songs). station management doesn’t tell me what not to play.
Super sweet.
ho gave these people ten watts?
guess hat letter sticks on my keyboard?
I can’t imagine what kind of gooey substance might be sticking the letters of Ubu’s keyboard down.
It was that picture of Mark’s mother no doubt…hot hot hot
