I’ve strongly disliked FOX News for quite a while now, but, up until this very moment, I still would have, somewhat begrudgingly perhaps, agreed that it was a legitimate news agency — tilted, yes — but not, as some would suggest, a propaganda machine serving conservative corporate interests. Having just seen this, however, I’m certain that that’s exactly what FOX News has become. There is no longer even the pretext of conveying legitimate, timely information. Everything is agenda-driven fantasy whipped up like cotton candy to feed to the lumbering, fear-filled, flag-waving masses.
It makes perfect sense when you think about it. How better to deal with the Foley issue than to make him a Democrat? Someone at FOX News just earned a big raise.

On the one hand, he is gay and he is pictured with a black man, which clearly makes him a Democrat.
On the other hand, he’s an alchoholic and a pedophile, which clearly makes him a Republican.
I can see why FOX News got confused, my head is spinning, too.
The consolidation of media under the Republican administrations, suberbly executed by appointees at the FCC, most notably Michael Powell (Colin Powell’s son) … powerful mergers of TV, radio and print … has done severe damage to free press in American these last 15-20 years.
There are few truly independeent major papers left in the US. None, if any, TV news … unless PBS and C-Span are counted.
The internet is the only channel left available … and THAT is being threatened by the net’s own giant supporters, Yahoo/Amazon/Google, who want the next generation of the net to be fee-based in favor of advertisers.
This move is being supported in Congress and by the present GOP-led FCC.

The new spin is that he was enabled by gay congressional staffers. They’re naming names and outing people. They’ve taken the opportunity and turned it into a witch hunt for gays.
Olbermann is on it.
