wall to wall brownies

Last week, Paul Krugman had a great column entitled “Find the Brownie.” In it, he suggested that we make a game of ferreting out Bush appointees, like Mike “Brownie” Brown at FEMA, “whose only apparent qualifications for that job are political loyalty and personal connections,” people who were potentially putting us all in danger.

Even though the article was behind the impenetrable wall of Times Select the article still made a pretty big mark on the Blogosphere, even leading to the creation of a Find the Brownie site, where whistleblowers could leave tips. Now, in the same spirit, The New Republic has a great piece on the “hackocracy” that’s flourishing under Bush. Here’s a clip:

The events of the past months have awakened the press to the true nature of the Bush administration. It is overrun with hacks–that is, government officials with waifish resum

Starving people are less likely to expend energy fucking. I think that it’s a perfect position for Ms. Sourberry.

Do any of these positions have things called “Job Descriptions” which might be followed with, say, a list of “Job Qualifications”? Every time I’ve looked into applying for government work, the application seems to have both, and maybe they should start requiring it for the people at the top as well (I’ve never applied for a position as head of FEMA, so I can’t be certain of this).

Now, you would think that the Democrats could also move in and make this a pet project, but I’m suspecting they’ve done their fair share of cronyism as well, so wouldn’t want to rock the boat.

Most of the direct comparisons that I’ve read don’t really go back any further than Bush I. The consensus seems to be, however, that the current administration is the most cronified of recent history. My sense is that if you could measure such things you’d have to go back before WWII to find worse.

Damn, Mark — this headline made me crave brownies, and then I read the first few lines and I threw up in my mouth a little bit. THANKS!

Ellen SauerPussy is a womb Nazi for pedophile/playboy priests and GOP politicians who fear running out of fresh altar boys and trophy mistresses! She also has criminal Catholic Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome (MBPS) contempt for the medical health of vulnerable women and children. By denying reproductive choice, she’s imposing ruinous, smelly childbirth bladder and bowel tears (fistulas), AIDS, and the sex trafficking of unwanted children to pedophiles like Neil Bush. No wonder W. wants her–to keep adulterous Neil supplied with fresh Thai child hookers!

Now that’s a comment…. Are you planning to hang around here for a while, Mary? We’ve got a slot that needs to be filled since the time traveler left.

Hack Watch: The Ellen Sauerbrey Reader
Ellen Sauerbrey represents one of the most egregious examples of Bush’s corrupt cronyism. For the benefit of Readers who are following Sauerbrey’s confirmation hearings, or the larger issue of Bush’s unqualified Republican ideologue nominees, I have co…
