after two short years… the truth begins to come out

New York Times reporter Judith Miller ended her 85-day “charade of martyrdom,” on Friday, leaving jail and finally telling the grand jury what a lot of us had already suspected — that the information on the identity of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame came from the office of the Vice President. According to her testimony, it was Scooter Libby, Cheney’s assistant, that had been her source on Plame, the wife of a U.S. ambassador who had publicly called Bush’s justification for the war in Iraq a lie. (For those of you who don’t know already, Miller’s job at the Times was to cover the “Weapons of Mass Destruction” beat. In that capacity, I think it’s fair to say, she did a less than stellar job, claiming that there were WMD in Iraq right up until the very end. Not only didn’t she challenge the assertions of the administration that such weapons were in Iraq, but it seems that she didn’t even interview anyone outside of the Chalabi-Bush circle. As that’s the case, many suspect that she was seen by the administration as a “friendly” reporter who, like Robert Novak, would help in the coordinated effort to discredit Plame and her husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson.) So, now the only question is, will a tie to Cheney be proven and, if so, will he pay some price for having put the lives of CIA agents in jeopardy?

Mark, Let me answers these questions as I have had five plus years of experience with the Bush-Cheney administration.

Let’s see…yes to the first (short of writing on the wall), and well…a big no to the second.

There are so many scandals swirling around the Republican party right now, it’s hard to pick a favorite.

It could go all the way past Cheney and right to Bush according to a secret source.

Someone of some stature in the US Congress has to at least make the case for impeachment so that there’s something in the historic record. It’s bad enough that we elected this guy twice (or let him take office twice), we can’t let it go down in history that we didn’t at least try to get him out…. I don’t want to go down in history as part of the most stupid generation America has ever seen.

now why would she sit in jail for no reason? I wonder if that 1.2Mil book deal she just signed had anything to do with it?
