I’ve just been notified by my friend Vanessa (I think I can call her a friend) that her band, Pylon, is going to be on CNN the morning of June 23rd. It has something to do with AthFest, an arts and music festival that kicks off later that day in Athens, Georgia… Pylon, by the way, continues to be one of the world’s greatest bands (even after the passage of 25 years, and a despite a few painful breakups). If you’ve never heard of them, a good place to start your research is the documentary “Athens Georgia: Inside/Out,” which I think I’ve written about here before… Or, better yet, check out Vanessa’s new chronology of the band. (It’s pretty cool.) Then, buy some records if you can find them.

I always loved that fish sticker on their album cover. VOL-UME!
You know I used to listen to them in the late 80’s (had a tape).. Tried to find their stuff awhile back and couldn’t even find them on kaza (I tried Itunes first).
Their drummer, Curtis, now builds sets for the TV show “Lost”. I think that’s pretty cool.
