There’s nothing really up on the site yet, but, in the address, he mentions the launch of a new government web page called Recovery.gov where they will be posting specific information about programs, spending etc…
So far, he really seems to be doing what he said he would relative to transparency. It’s an incredibly refreshing change from the last 8 years…
And I like that he’s staying focused on the recovery plan. It would have been easy for him to devote time in this address to his first executive orders, which called for a stop to torture and the practice of snatching people up and flying them off to secret prisons, but he stayed focused on the big challenge in front of him – getting Congress to buy into his stimulus plan. I found that interesting.
BA. I think you’re correct in your assessment that the policies of the right wing political party that has been governing Iceland has failed their people even more than our own.
What mainly characterizes the ideas of the members of the Independence Party is a belief in the freedom of the individual … and doubts about the ability of the state to solve all problems.
Given that we already have ousted a cabinet that’s failed us, and they’re just beginning to do so, I’d say we’re further along.
olec, I’m beyond worrying about the color of the team’s jerseys, the letter after their names, or their rhetoric. I’m looking at their fruits. Their fruits are massive debt, the destruction of their currency, and the centralization of their banks. Same as ours.

And, while we’re on the subject of how the Obama administration is likely to use web technology, here’s a link to a good article.

Still can’t see how he’ll afford all these magical fixes without wrecking the economy further.
But that’s just me.
Apparently.
Seems to me, Iceland’s predicament is similar to ours in a lot of ways, except that they’re further along.
You may say that I’m a crazy paranoid freak, but I’m not the only one.
