I think it’s great that Luce, the man behind Battle Cry, has given so much of his time to working with children. Not since Michael Jackson, has a public figure made children such an intergral part of their work here on earth, and I think he’s to be commended for it.
Bravo, Mr. Luce, and best of luck getting the homeschoolers of America to send you their children.
I want to go to church. A church where this diversity (ethnic), unconditional acceptance w/ mutual respect, and praxis-usable real time suggestions for leading a happier life (like everyone try not to buy anything over $100 this week, or go weed a vacant lot or something).
Can someone tell me where such a church is?
If we continue to let THEM define church/christianity how will it ever change?
There should be an organized “Reclaiming Jesus” movement.

I wrote a post on my own blog a couple of days ago after hearing that interview. The gist of the post was that we all need to stop calling all these far right extremists “christian conservatives”. Based on dictionary definitions these people should properly be called CHRISTIAN FASCISTS. While I was looking at another thread on ypsidxit.com some there also pointed me to a short educational film on despotism from 1946 that I also wrote a response too. You should definitely check out this little film, in the current context it is extremely scary.
For Chris, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on North Huron in Ypsilanti, is quite open and inclusive in every sense of the word … yet also Jesus-centric … but the Beatitudes still apply.
As for fundies … if the young don’t have sex, well have fewer unwanted fundy babies until they marry. Two … they will, if married, eat their young … check out the testimony from/music of Jimmy Rogers III … third, if they want their own country, they can start with Monohan in Naples, Florida (wheree a flood of Biblical proportions will wipe all of them out … but two … bets on which two, anyone.

Were that I to live in Ypsi. Also, when I said diversity I realize that to just write ethnic appears exclusive. As you know that’s not waht I meant.
AND WAIT. The L’Abri community in the Swiss Alps…does anyone remember that cult with the red robes in, I believe, Switzerland? They had a group suicide/murder, highly ritualized. It was in the mid-80’s I believe.

I guess that my hope is, is that it will all flame out in utter madness or an all-consuming apathy. I mean, how many of us went to/were forced to go- to church as a child/adolescent and now do not go?
