Ypsi/Arbor Exit Interview: Casey and Ryan Dawson

They’re gone now, but, before they left, I had an opportunity to talk with Casey and Ryan Dawson about their decision to pack up, leave Ypsilanti, and recreate themselves on the west coast. What follows is their official exit interview. MARK: How soon after I had you both on the Saturday Six Pack as guests […]

Bruce Conforth on the real life of Robert Johnson, the real hell of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and what it was like coming of age inside Izzy’s Young’s Folklore Center as the young Bobby Zimmerman hammered out songs on the typewriter in the back room… on episode 44 of the Saturday Six Pack

When I first started talking with ethnomusicologist Bruce Conforth about the possibility of his being on the show, I wasn’t exactly sure what we’d be talking about. As of right now, eleven individuals have entered this year’s Wurst Challenge. We won’t, however, know which ten will be […]

Jim “Colonel Mustard” Cherewick needs your helps as he represents all the musicians of the world in epic Ypsilanti sausage fest

I’d been informed by the governing body that oversees the Wurst Challenge that, as a judge, I should try my best to give the impression of impartiality. And, until this evening, I think I’ve done a pretty good job of it. A few hours ago, though, I received a desperate call from my friend Jim […]
