Personally, I think that the Republicans are intentionally trying to make sure that the bar is set so low for her, that no matter what she does she will shine to the average American.

I'm sure that she'll take the debate tomorrow in most people's minds. People eat that shit up.

It's the New England Patriots vs. the Whitmore Lake High School football team, it's Tiger Woods against a weekend warrior golfer, it's the old professor against the wide eyed freshman...

It's a colossal mistake to think that Palin is outmatched. She'll win it with silly oneliners and conviction, two qualities American people love. Biden will say some wordy nonsense and lose everyone.

Personally, I can't stand either one of them but I loathe to hear how great Palin is from the particular sector of electorate that she appeals to.

She'll talk about motherhood and God. That's enough for most people.

Palin will do quite well at the debate and surprise everyone. Not in substance of course, but in presentation. She is a master at the non-answer. And let's face it, a large part of the public is just fine with a non-answer if they "like" her. And putting all policy and politics and fitness for the office issues aside, I do have to admit she does come across as quite likable. And yes, for some that is enough. I'm not defending thier oversimplification of the election process, but we can't pretend that it doesn't exist and doesn't matter.

The conservative blogs are fired up claiming that Ifill's book discredits her to be moderator. Okay fine, keep Ifill but don't have it be a debate anymore. Let's use Ifill to fill in the role of the now deceased Lynne Thigpin and play a rousing game of the 90's PBS show, Where in the World is Carmen San Diego and have the VP candidates play each other. It would be hilarious to watch Biden clean up against Palin on a kids geography quiz show.

js, I get that. I just think this will go beyond that. I don't think there's that many moron voters, especially independents who will be swayed. Now some republicans might eat it up like they did at the convention, but even then, I'm guessing that she'll stumble. There's going to be a meltdown on her part. She's going to freeze up and choke so bad that right wing hockey moms in Alaska will be scared of her being in office.

This is the VP of the United States we're talking about debating for tomorrow. This isn't the same as the Alaska gov debate. There'll be some questions she can't bs about, and Biden will pounce on her. Brent is right about the moderator being the x factor either way. I'm sure she knows Palin's strengths and weaknesses.

My prediction is that she tanks it and everyone will know it. Anyone wants to bet a beer on it I'm down.

I don't know how you could sympathize with the fact that she can't name more than one Supreme Court case. As a person who could easily be in the position to nominate justices I think it's completely inexcusable. The fact that anyone could even consider voting for her and McCain after that is mind blowing. I guess it's just another example of how painfully stupid the majority of Americans have become. It's embarrassing and pretty terrifying.

Can't say I think much more highly of Obama and Biden, though. They scare me just as much.

I never read newspapers or magazines. But who in the world can't fake it? If someone asked me, I'd lie and say I read The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News. I can name a bunch more I never read too. It's so strange that she couldn't just do that. She could have just said she gets all her news from watching the CBS Evening News and be done with it. It's weird that she's not even that good as a bullshitting politician.
