I liked his fire, his passion, his ideas of the American promise and what that means, and the end of his speech where he alluded to Dr. MLK's speech and that we shouldn't turn our back on that dream...Obama has that something special that only comes around once in a lifetime.

And Al Gore's speech was by far the best one that preceded Obama's - incredibly well done.

In a few hours, McCain announces from Dayton, Ohio, who his running mate will be. If all is as it appears to me at the moment, his selection now almost has to be Romney. McCain absolutely has to cut into a relatively big electoral industrial state to have a fighting chance in this thing. Michigan is fucked up and getting pretty reactionary. Stupid and paniced is a bad way to be. Mussolini could win this state.

Obama looked and sounded better than ever. He's convinced me to volunteer my time. I was down at the Ann Arbor campaign office yesterday, entering new voter registrations into the database, and I was surprised at how light the activity is around there right now. Where are all you SOBs who were out all primary season kicking our asses? (Hillary & Edwards supporters' asses) I suggest you folks start devoting some time out there or your guy's going to lose! This thing is no done deal. If Obama loses Michigan, he most likely loses the whole thing. Unless you can magically find 17 extra electoral votes lying around in the prairies and deserts out west somehow, I think it would be a good idea to get your asses down to the campaign offices and start identifying votes for your guy.

It's the former governor of Alaska, beauty queen Sarah Palin, an anti-choice woman. Sigh. How dumb are we supposed to be...?

BUT, the event at the Corner Brewery, to watch Obama's acceptance speech was GREAT!!! It was fantastic to watch it together with others, almost like being there. The crowd applauded after nearly every line. He was funny, too! I laughed when I heard some pundit this morning saying he was too angry. I didn't see that. I saw a moving, inspiring speech by an exceptional politician. WOW, I feel like I've waited all my life for this candidate. I've never volunteered for an election campaign before, but I'll be working on this one. EXCEPTIONALLY great!

Holy shit! That Sarah Palin choice came out of nowhere!

These guys really think women are going to abandon Obama because of the Hillary thing. What idiots! I love it!

I absolutely love this. The Republicans looked at the map and realized they were fucked! They're SO fucked they decided to place their bet on double zero! That's awesome!

I want to head up the "How dare you snub Romney" campaign committee. Who wants the the "It should have been Huckabee" Committee chair?

Anyone else see the similarity between Palin and Peggy Hill?

My thoughts on VP candidate Palin...

So ytown and publius, which one of you guys wants to head up the "Misogynists for Obama" committee?

I can't wait to see what other little idiosyncrasies a Republican who names her kids Trig and Willow might have. This is going to be great!

I do think I might have figured McCain’s choice out though. He must have just figured he isn't going to win this thing, so he might as well get a third wife out of it.

If he's gonna dig so deep as Alaska Governor, he should have just searched for the hottest township clerk he could find in America and asked her to be his running mate.

Oh, and what a surprise. Her husband is an oilman. Did McCain not notice that pretty much everyone in America wants those assholes as far away from our government as possible.

It was nice to see you there Lisele! great crowd! Yeah Robert - I agree, its amazing how much help is needed with the campaign... Ypsi hopefully will soon have an Obama office near Puffer Reds...next couple weeks? no ones sure exactly, but it will need help w/staffing. There's a big need to go door to door canvassing and also to register voters.

Anyone who wants to can do it from home on their own computer via my.barackobama.com - as well as doing your own canvassing/personal fundraising. If you have kids and believe there's global warming - best have at it as this is your last chance.

I don't know, my first reaction is that this is a kind of a good play by McCain, at the very least an intriguing one. BUT...we shall see. I'm guessing Biden will eat her alive in the debates.

She's fucking evil. McCain's gonna win and it's gonna be the same shit for 8 more years. Plus, he'll kick it from all the stress and we'll be stuck with this bitch. McCain's camp disgusts me more every day.

Dude, chill out brother.

You know, Palin as gov. of Alaska where they are proposing to drill should be interesting when that comes into play. Because that will be an issue that will be stressed.

It's funny how Palin is being labeled a maveric and a pioneer, and was known as the "barracuda" for her aggresiveness as a high school basketball star. Politricks are so funny.

Obama picked his VP as a safe bet and to put the spotlight solely on him - which is important given that we are voting on a president, not a vice president. McCain, with this pick, seems to be throwing out a wild card in hopes of taking some of the pressure off himself - he knows that he is boring compared to Obama.

The thing is, once we get into this thing, Obama will shine brighter than ever. It's his time, and like Spike Lee said at the convention, he's like Jordan or Tiger Woods in that he will rise highest on the biggest stage. McCain doesn't have a chance; it's over already and this VP pick was a desperate shot that will prove to be too risky in the long run.

Don't vote 3rd party - there's too much at stake this time.

Dude, it's a bad choice. What is the problem? Did you lose your TV remote with the thing stuck on Fox?

That happened to me once, dude, and I woke up three days later in a hospital bed in the Dominican Republic being treated for an oxycontin addiction and several venereal diseases.
