And this is true, by the way. I only heard from one person all day who didn't like the fair and she was a colorectal surgeon at a local hospital. That's not to say that others didn't enjoy themselves. She was just the only one that I actually spoke with who admitted as much to me... Which, by the way, I thought was cool. I like knowing that not everyone likes what we think is interesting.
And, as long as we're talking about the Shadow, I should mention here that, according to my friend Molly, who spent 12 hours taking erotic photos of people's feet for her own pleasure, she never said, "Feet are interesting, I love mine," as was reported in the "Ann Arbor News." Everything else in the article, however, was true. There were monsters and giant, pooping cats.
Hi Mark! I've been reading your blog for about a month and a half now since moving to downtown Ypsi and I finally got to attend the Shadow Art Fair... you guys did a great job and I loved that I could walk to the Corner Brewery and get my indie craft fix, especially since the Detroit Urban Craft Fair is only happening once this year. I briefly stopped at your booth and talked to you about the Drew Barrymore poster.
It was inspiring to see all the creative stuff people come up with and I left saying to my boyfriend, "I wish I could be that creative and make cool things!"
I'd like to add that I though the fair was great also. There was so much more than I had expected. I was on my way to see batman, but I thought I'd stop in for a look. I ended up staying the rest of the night.
The art was all fantastic, and the beer was good too. I might have to spend more time at the corner brewery.
Also Mark, it was good to meet you. I did send my resume to Amy at Spark, and she got back to with some helpful advice.
I spent some time thinking of a business to start with the spark resources, and I decided ypsilanti should have a furniture/houseware company. Kinda like IKEA, but American. With indy crafters doing design. The motor wheel plant might be a good place for it.
