eating to save the freighthouse

Jim from Café Luwak had special coupons available at the Fullfreight Banjo event last Saturday night. If you took one, and ate at Café Luwak, according to the coupon, 15% of the price of your meal would be donated to the reopening of the Ypsilanti Freighthouse. Unfortunately, in the excitement of the event, not many of the coupons were taken. I just talked with Jim, and, so far, only 3 had been used. Being the good guy that he is, however, Jim has offered to 1) honor the coupons until the end of the month, and 2) not require that you actually have a coupon to participate. So, between now and the end of the month, all you have to do when you eat at Luwak is ask that 15% of your bill be directed toward the Freighthouse.

I also want to remind folks that for one night only, on Tuesday, May 13, 50% of what you pay for your dinner at Sidetrack will be donated to the same cause.

So, to help the Freighthouse, all you have to do is eat. How easy is that?

[I guess you also have to pay, but you get my point.]

I distributed some of the leftover coupons to the wives of the band members and other friends who worked the sales tables ... so eat up carnies!

After the FOYF cleaned up, they were all gone, so ... the coupons are out there are should be used, everyone.

Thanks Jim and MM.

I went out to Ypsi to visit my mother, today. We went to the Cafe Luwak for lunch. I asked that 15% be given to the freighthouse, but the girl said I needed the coupon. She is supposed to be leaving a note for Jim. Hopefully he will get it.

Thanks Vera, I did get it, they wrote freighthouse on the receipt and put it with the others. Thanks a lot. I also put a note on the register telling the employees to do the same for any others that don't have a coupon.

mark's original post just said that any sidetrack dinner on may 13th would go towards the freighthouse. Since I'd rarely ever make it to sidetrack for dinner, but often could for lunch, if lunch counted, too. But it sounds like there is going to be some sort of event at the sidetrack for that?

Speaking of Luwak, does Cafe Luwak actually have Kopi Luwak?

We don't have Kopi Luwak all the time, but we do bring it in three or four times a year for special cupping parties. We just had a cupping in February, so I am not sure when we will do another one. It hasn't worked very well in the summer, so we might wait till September to do another one.
