lakoff on obama

UC Berkley professor George Lakoff, the guy who wrote the book on how Republicans have used language to frame issues and consolidate power, was a guest on David Winer’s podcast yesterday, and, if you have the time, I’d suggest that you check it out. His take on the Obama campaign and what Obama needs to do to win sounded to me to be pretty balls on accurate… I’m sure that Obama’s people are taking notes as I type this.

[Thanks to my old college buddy, Dave “the tripod” Miller, for the link.]

He's absolutely right that Obama should proceed as though he's won the nomination, and focus on McCain. He leads in electoral votes, and he shouldn't allow Hillary to change his focus.

I think I saw one of the Tripods movies once. I was in high school. I found the video tape in my dad's work room. It was the first time I'd ever seen a man f his own a.

I agree Edwards Fan....I wonder if Hillary is starting all this sharing the ticket talk in order to position herself for VP. Is Edwards interested, and if so, I wonder who Obama would pick? It will interesting how it all shakes out, it could be Al Gore who ultimately is the most influencial in deciding. We probably won't find out until August in Denver.

It also looks like there won't be a redo in MI, because the 10 million to fund it is too steep for us to foot the bill, and the Dems can't afford that either. Unless a private party steps up in the next week or so, looks like that won't happen. Really, it shouldn't make a difference - I can't see either candidate winning by a large enough margin to make a difference, so they should probably just leave it alone.

One more thing - you all know I'm an Obama supporter, but I really admire Clinton for her toughness in her campaign. I actually like her a lot. Regardless of who gets the nomination, the Dems have a hellava team. You add Gore, Edwards, and Dean in the mix and we're looking pretty damn good.
