I’d usually ask Linette to help, but, seeing as how she’s busy with paying graphic design customers, I thought that I’d put together an ad for the upcoming Beer with Bloggers event myself. I did this in Word, which is a pretty good program for graphic design. Feel free to use it to promote the event if you like, or, better yet, make your own. So far I’ve heard from two Ypsi City Council members, the Mayor of Ypsilanti, three Ann Arbor bloggers, and about six from Ypsi that they’ll be there. Blog readers are encouraged to come as well, but only if they leave comments. Lurkers, if identified, will be driven out into the cold, unforgiving Michigan winter without wireless access.

OK, I did a search and went to Walberg Watch. The first thing I saw there was a link to a site called... TheTruthAboutMark.com... I almost shit my pants. Seriously. I thought that maybe someone out there had discovered something about me that I didn't even know about myself. Thankfully, it's another Mark that they've figured out the truth about.

Surely someone out there can annimate that image so all the colors flash... And how about spinning pinwheels and fireworks? And can Clementine say something scarey in a robot voice, like, "I pitty the fool that don't come to Frenchie's"?

Mark, your ad is amazing. Using Word for graphic design is like play Bach on a kazoo. I love how the "s" on "Frenchie's" drops down, and oh the spell check under line, it's too much. You are doing for graphic design what The Shaggs did for music!
I'd like to suggest you hang the cardboard sign outside Frenchie's the night of the event. I was going to suggest Clementine wear it like a sandwich board but it's much too cold for that.

Here's an idea. What if a local bar agreed to subsidize blogging? I'm not suggesting that they let bloggers drink free all the time, although that would be nice. What if they gave one free beer to any blogger who mentioned their bar though? The same would go for coffee shops.

I think you need to better define the term 'lurker' or you maybe unnecessarily alienating some of your audienc - what about those of us who always read, but rarely comment, due to the painful embarrassment of near anonymous contact. Over computers. While wearing gloves. And hats.

I feel that my bi-annual comment and the subsequent grammar-related panic attack earns me and my kind a term better than lurkers - but, then again, maybe not.

In all seriousness, I lurk on most sites, rarely, if at all, leaving comments. It is no crime. Yes, I wish that more people joined in the conversation here, but I don't hold it against them. People are shy. I understand that.
