the odd origins of 'strangers with candy'

I had absolutely no idea that Jerri Blank, the high school-attending former prostitute and drug addict portrayed by Amy Sedaris in “Strangers with Candy” was based on a real person. I’m very confused right now, and, I think, even more impressed with Sedaris. (via Metafilter)

That is a fabulous link. It's hilarious that the "adults" in charge, would expose teens to such freaks in the interest of "saving" them. I remember reading a typically overwrought account of an acid trip in my mom's Reader's Digest when I was 12. I couldn't wait to try it after that.

Please do not post pictures of Amy Sedaris ever again. My eyeballs have imploded from the horror. She wasn't just hit with the ugly stick. The ugly tree fell and crushed her.
