Looking at Bret in his Santa outfit just now reminded me of the Santarchy movement. (The image here is from the New York 2004 Santacon.) And that, in turn, made me think about the Zombie Mob movement that’s currently sweeping across the globe. (The image shown below is from a July 2005 zombie uprising in San Francisco.) And, now that I have both things in mind, I’m thinking that maybe, just maybe, the time might be right to pull together the two threads and tie them up in a beautiful, brain-eating holiday bow…
What would it take, I wonder, to initiate the world’s first Zombie Santa Flash Mob?
First of all, is the Ann Arbor-Ypsilanti area even big enough to sustain an event the size necessary to have substantial impact? And, secondly, would kids be traumatized if they were to see an army of wild-eyed, salivating, gore-covered Santas limping toward them, murmuring, “Ho, ho, ho…. brains…."?
I have too much on my plate as it is, but, if others were interested in setting up an exploratory committee, I could probably find an hour or two to discuss the feasibility of such a project… Also, before you leave a comment, I just wanted to mention that if something like this were ever to be successful, the element of surprise would have to be a big part of it. (If we were to do actually do something, everyone should know the date and time, but not the location until the very last minute.) With that in mind, please don’t leave comments with specifics as to possible areas to attack in search of fresh, human brains.
And, perhaps most importantly, a Zombie Claus movement would be a great vehicle for discussing the corporatization of Christmas… Hmmmm…. Perhaps I should give the idea to Ad Busters and see what they can do with it.
I really don’t have time for this, but I think the idea’s got a lot of potential… Maybe this isn’t the right venue, but it’s got to happen somewhere this holiday season. It just has to.
