If you didn’t catch it, AnnArbor.com ran a good article yesterday by Jennifer Eberbach on the evolution of the Shadow Art Fair. If you haven’t been following my posts here, about all the various things we’ve got planned for Saturday, it’s probably a good place to start. Or, if you just want to get right to the facts, you can check out this PDF of the trifold brochure I started distributing this weekend. You should be able to find copies around the Ypsi/Arbor area, but, if you don’t see any in your neck of the woods, please feel free to print some out and give them to your friends. Not only does it lay out all the activities that we’ve got scheduled, but it also includes a map showing all the places in Ypsi where you can park, all the venues we’ve got stuff going on at, and all the spots where the BTB Party Busses will be stopping. Here, for those of you unwilling to open up the PDF, is a copy of the map.
So, if you come to Ypsi on Saturday, plan on spending some time here. Not only will we have the Shadow Art Fair, and all the good stuff that usually goes along with it, like bands and beer, but, after 6:00, we’ll also have things taking place at three additional venues, all connected by free busses. So, if you’re coming after 6:00, park downtown and take the bus to the Shadow, and then check out the big Art Race at SPUR Studios, some performance art at the Dreamland Theater, some local noise at the Savoy, or any number of other incredible things.
Speaking of performance art, I just asked Holly Hughes, one of the folks we’ve got lined up for the stage at Dreamland, what she was planning to do, and received the following in response.
I’m going to do what I call my sapphic sampler platter – it’s monologues about being reared in Michigan by feral republicans – becoming a major irritant of the moral majority – and if that’s not enough I will explain the following terms: teaser bitch, standing heat and the formal come.
So, if you’ve always wondered what the difference was between an informal come and a formal one, be at the Dreamland Theater at 7:05 sharp.
[Thanks to Melissa Dettloff for designing the map, and to Linette Lao for designing the brochure.]

Congratulations on all the press. I hope it comes off without a snag.
Being familiar with Holly’s work, I suspect all of those phrases at the end of her comment have to do with competitive dog showing.
This is why I refuse to end my life. Thank you.
So, if I wanted, I could ride the bus for six hours straight?
Tim,
Save ya a seat on the short one.
The busses will be cool. There may even be entertainment on some. It’ll be like playing roulette.
And, by that, I mean that sometimes you might get entertainment and sometimes you might not. I don’t mean that there’s a one in eight chance that you’ll die.
