The State of the Union address never has a bikini machine.
And we don’t have a TV anymore, so I have to watch everything online. And it’s not so bad.
Looking at Pelosi, I’m thinking that it’s probably good that there’s not a bikini machine.
If you watch your feed and Hulu at the same time, you actually get to hear politicians double speaking….

Great line.
It’s still kind of strange to hear someone who can speak proper english giving the state of the union. He even cracked a joke that made some sense.
Tax those companies that send jobs oversees!
Clean coal? Offshore drilling? New nuclear plants?
I guess that’s what it takes to sell climate change legislation.
I also liked the line where he asks the Republicans to come forward if they have better ideas as to how to bring down the cost of insurance, strengthen Medicare for seniors, insure the uninsured, etc.
He should freeze the Pentagon’s budget.
And, yeah, Andy, it’s weird to have a bright person up there, talking to the American people like their adults, and not just about how we should be afraid of the “axis of evil.”

The only problem: Obama is going to get torn apart for being smug and self rightous by all of the right wingers. What you and I see as an intelligent, well presented speech, millions of others will see as talking down to America.
Maybe it’s because I’ve been drinking all evening, but I sudenly feel like Tom Servo. Can we add little Mark and Andy shadows to the video feed?

So Mark, I have to ask. When you tell people you don’t have a TV anymore, do they recoil in horror like they do when I tell them I don’t have a microwave?
I thought that he did a pretty good job of it. At least it seemed to me that it was pretty well balanced. He called the Republicans out a few times, but he also offered a few olive branches. Hopefully, at least one of them was listening.

So, I switched back to Hulu/Fox, and so far, they are being fairly positive about the speech. They are calling it very centrist; I tend to agree with that. It will be interesting to see what their more hard core pundits have to say tomorrow.
Hulu is also has the Republican rebuttle from the governer of Virginia on now..
Oh, god, this guy quoted Thomas Jefferson in the first two minutes. He’s talking about limited government; that helps take the heat off the healthcare bill. He’s blaming Obama for the skyrocketing deficit (only partially true). And now we’re on to the part about how America doesn’t really want a public health care solution. Did he just drop the Republicans FB and Twitter page? Really?
Last year, after Obama spoke, the Republicans put up Bobby Jindal. He failed so spectacularly that he hasn’t been seen since in the national press. Hopefully the same thing happens to this guy.

Most of these “Facts” are actually speculation. Not that I agree or disagree with anything in the speech or in the article, but it’s misleading to call what is mostly an opinion piece a “Fact Check”.
Did they ever explain who the cops were with Michelle?
Bringing up the rear here, but I think the cop beside the First Lady is the woman who shot the Fort Hood murderer–one of two people who stopped him from killing any more people.
I wanted to hear him say that we were going to put up the best damned health bill for the American people and ask people to vote on it. I wanted him to say that there would be a public option, and that they were removing the sweetheart deals for drug companies. I wanted to hear him say that the people of America wanted it, and that, by taxing the most wealthy among us, we could afford it. And I wanted him to challenge the Republicans to vote against it. And, then, when the screaming died down, I wanted for him to say, “And then we’re going to fix this nation’s banking problems.”
