I still haven’t had an opportunity to catch the wildly popular History of Ypsilanti puppet show at the Dreamland Theater, but, thanks to Christine Laughren of the Ypsilanti Citizen, I’ve now at least been able to see my part… Speaking of this show, which was funded by a Shadow Art Fair grant, I’m wondering - assuming I can get ahold of a good video of the whole production - if someone out there has server space from which we could stream it. (Who should we contact? City Hall? EMU? The Visitors and Convention Bureau? The Chamber of Commerce? Local real estate companies?) I’m thinking that it would be really cool to have this available to people online in its entirety. I don’t know that it would necessarily draw new people to Ypsi, but it might.

Put it on YouTube?
I’d love to see the complete show videotaped from beginning to end - It’s difficult to know for sure how it looks to the audience when you are back stage operating puppets. We are using footlights for the show now (we didn’t use then in this video) so that there won’t be so many shadows during future performances. We have the show scheduled for every Sunday at 3:30pm until the end of January in case anyone want to video tape it.
YouTube is OK, if there’s no other option available. (It’s better than nothing.) But it would be cool if someone could stream it in higher quality. Vimeo could be an option. They may have length restrictions though.
Naia, I think I can find someone to tape it… Actually, I’m sure of it… And we could at least get it up Youtube/Vimeo. I would, however, like to find someone who could stream it higher resolution. I think it could be a really good thing for the City.

Good news… Ypsi City Planner Richard Murphy reached out to the Ann Arbor Public Library, and they said that they’d be happy to host the video for us. So now we just need someone with a decent video setup to record it… Any ideas?

I thought the bit where the puppets put on a puppet show was particularly brilliant. The jokes that seemed aimed more at the adult half of the audience were good as well. But puppet Marks voice sounded an awful lot like actual Marks voice. I think the fix is in…
