My friend Ted Kennedy saw the actor Sam Rockwell in Zingerman’s on Friday, buying a cup of coffee. Rockwell, he told me by way of email, was wearing sweatpants. I asked if they were shiny. (I imagined that they would be.) “No,” he replied, “they are baggy and charcoal-colored.” I asked for a photorealistic drawing. This is what I received.
(If I ever get another tattoo, this will be it… Not the whole Sam Rockwell, as is pictured here – just his sweatpants.)
Hilary Swank, for those of you who don’t know, has been in Ann Arbor the last several weeks, filming a movie titled, “Betty Ann Waters,” which is about a woman who puts herself through law school in order to exonerate her brother, who had been convicted of murder. Sam Rockwell, who we loved in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, is in it too.
Rockwell, for what it’s worth, in addition to being a fine actor, is also one hell of a dancer.
Oh, and if you should happen to rub elbows with a celebrity, please send in a drawing. I want to establish MM.com as the first pencil paparazzi site on the internet.

And I don’t know that he was really wearing a Charlie’s Angels t-shirt. I will have to check with Ted.
Hmmm, a Charlie’s Angels belly shirt and sweatpants…Sam’s wardrobe would indicate that he feels right at home in Ann Arbor (or maybe he never expected to be captured by a pencil paparazzo).
And, before anyone asks, Mr. Rockwell has not lost his right arm. It’s just an optical illusion.
How can we be sure those were his sweatpants he was wearing? They could have been anybody’s sweatpants. Maybe what you have is a sketch of Sam Rockwell wearing somebody else’s sweatpants. Now that would be interesting.
I would like to have these sweatpants tattooed on me, life-size. I think that would be awesome.
I would also like to get a tattoo of a famous person’s retainer. I’m sure that some famous people must wear them when they sleep.
I think that pencil paparazzo is the next little-big thing!
I can’t confirm whether or not he was wearing a Charlie’s Angels t-shirt….
It wasn’t a belly shirt, his pants were just low and he would expose his midriff every time he moved, bent over, took off his jacket or scratched his head…
He changed locations just after getting settled, possibly because I said out loud “I am totally making this my facebook status…”
Mark did not specify whether Sam Rockwell should be included in the representation of his sweatpants, but I felt the sweatpants would be served well by being shown in the context of Sam Rockwell’s confused and paranoid demeanor.
I just wanted to see how this appeared in the “recent comments” bar.
Holy frijoles, this is Jimmy from The Search for One-Eye Jimmy? That movie is a *classic*.
I have observed that of all sorts of sweatpants, those worn by Sam Rockwell, especially during his “Ann Arbor” period, are by far the most controversial. (Even more so than the ones that say “JUICY” across the ass.) In fact, I am writing a book about it.
I have run into him in Tx many times always buying food every week
in grocery stores,he doesn’t know how to cook. One time he was wearing
slippers in a grocery store.
Other times he is walking aimlessly in the streets. Nobody talks
to him,I don’t think I will talk to him anymore since he doesn’t
like people nor his viewers been around him.

Small world. I was searching for Sam Rockwell’s sweat pants on EBAY. I wanted them extra sweaty.
Does anyone here have access to soiled celebrity sweatpants? Sam Rockwell’s not on my list, but I’d pay top dollar for famous teen sweatpants.
