the riverside park anomaly

I was down at Riverside Park earlier today, walking the dog and assessing the damage done by the meaty participants of this year’s Elvisfest, when I noticed an unusual break in the woods outlined by upended pieces of concrete and replanted wildflowers. (It looked as if a giant had reached down and yanked out a fist-full of forest.) After staring into the gaping hole for a few moments, I remembered having seen the exact same thing a few days ago on the Maproom Systems site. Brett didn’t have any explanation for it in his post, but Steve Cherry came forward with what seems like a plausible theory. Steve feels as though the hole is like the creature known as Vaal in the original Star Trek series… I’m not sure what it is, but I’m thinking of it as a kind of super-sized, primitive, Blair Witchy take on the Ann Arbor fairie door phenomena. Most likely, however, it’s just the work of a person on speed with a serious addiction to landscaping. Regardless of who’s behind it, it’s pretty cool. If you get a chance, go down and walk into it. All the brutally torn tree limbs give it a kind of eerie, almost evil, vibe, but it’s pretty neat if you can get beyond the thoughts of Satanic sacrifices. (note: No animal parts or pentagrams were seen during my investigation, and my dog did not look as though she sensed anything unusually evil for Riverside Park.)

The image on the left, I should have mentioned, is taken from Brett’s site. The other image is from Star Trek. Steve had linked to it from him comment on Brett’s site.

I don’t suppose this could have anything to do with the headless dogs found recently in the township.

You would have noticed a giant pile of rotting dog heads, right?

I suspect this is one of those “fairie dive bars” I’ve heard about.

Perhaps evidence of a local Radical Faerie enclave.
