Wisconsin’s public employee unions fight back

We may not be at Egyptian levels yet, but the protests in Wisconsin are growing in the wake of Governor Scott Walker’s demand that public employees no longer be allowed to negotiate their employment contracts collectively. Here’s footage of thousands of people taking over Wisconsin’s State Capitol building today. One just hopes that Walker wasn’t serious when he asserted a few days ago that he’d use the National Guard to quiet them.

Again, I say bring it…bring the National Guard, motherfucker. Hell, I hope we protest here in Michigan and some National Guard dude whacks me on the head (um, not too hard). What could be more awesome than my sweet, TeacherPatti face all crying and shit all over the nightly news? I’m pretty dramatic and I’d like to think that such a thing would make everyone cry and protest for more change. I’d take a whomp on the head for that. (Believe it or not, I’ve never been hit on the head, or anywhere for that reason, but I can take one for the team)

    Keep on fantasizing, lady.
Do you remember that fat lady in the power skirt and the protest sign that was shot with the rubber bullet by the cops on TV?
Then how during their protest-cop training session later they laughed their baton-wielding asses off about her.
If you think people will care about you just because you get beat up on TV, you are looney.

‎”The last time Wisconsin called in the National Guard was in 1886. The Guard, then called the State Militia were brought in to break a rally of Milwaukee workers advocating an 8-hour work day.”

Union Bill Clears Committee, State Senate To Consider Thursday
Thousands Protest Union Bill At State Capitol

MADISON, Wis. — A bill eliminating most collective bargaining rights from nearly all Wisconsin public employees passed the Legislature’s budget-writing committee just before midnight Wednesday.

The bill passed with all Republicans backing it and no Democratic support.

Word has is that the Democratic members of Wisconsin’s State Senate walked out this morning to break quorum and prevent the labor-killing budget from being passed. The Governor threatened to use State troopers to round up the legislators, who are now rumored to have left the State to prevent this.

When asked for comment on the Senators’ whereabouts, a representative of the Wisconsin Democratic Party reportedly replied, “I assume they’re in this hemisphere, I’ll say that.”

    Nice to see some spine.

    Spine?
If they had any guts, they would be getting shot in the ass with rubber bullets like our hero, Teacher Patti. They have fled the state they were elected to govern.
    Just tayin’, Buckwheat.

hears hoping that IF they use the National Guard in WI….that they really anger the nation, that they stir us all up. Most were not behind the American Revolution till English soldiers fired on the colonists…it changed things

It would be Kent State all over again. It was a wake up call for the entire nation when the National Guard fired on the students.
