Yesterday, in hopes of proving to the American people how healthy the President is, in spite of his recent COVID-19 diagnosis, the White House released two photos of Donald Trump. In the photos, which have been shared widely by Trump’s supporters and family members, the President can be seen hard at work in two different offices within his suite at the Walter Reed military hospital, where he’s been undergoing treatment for the deadly infectious disease. The only problem is, the metadata shows that the two photos just ten minutes apart, suggesting that they were staged to make it look as though the President had been working a full day. And, when you look closely, you can see that Donald Trump isn’t actually working, but just signing his name on a blank piece of paper. I’m not one to invest much time on conspiracy theories, but, given that White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows took members of the press aside yesterday and told them off-the-record that the President’s vital signs were “concerning” and that there was “not a clear path” to a full recovery, it certainly makes one wonder just how bad his condition might really be. [Oh, and there’s also the very real possibility that written statements put out by the President’s physician may have actually been written by members of the administration.]
[For what it’s worth, this kind of response to a health crisis is right out of the Despot 101 handbook. The first inclination of authoritarian regimes is never to be honest with their citizens, but to disseminate “strong like bull” narratives like these, touting the incredible health of their beloved leader.]
I can appreciate why Joe Biden and his team made the call to pull their negative ads once Trump was diagnosed, and not take the opportunity to paint their adversary as weak, frail and incapacitated. I suspect it was not only the morally right thing to do, but also the strategically right thing to do, given the fact that they seem to be leading in key swing states with just 30 days to go until the election. With that said, however, I cannot help but remember how the Trump campaign treated Hillary Clinton in 2016, when she succumbed briefly to pneumonia. Here, for those of you who might not remember, is one of the ads the Trump team put out in 2016, after Clinton was taken ill.

update: Fox News is now acknowledging that the initial comments of the President’s physician were purposefully misleading. They are claiming, however, that there’s nothing unusual about a doctor doing so in order to “lift the spirits” of a patient.

Even with Trump in the hospital with a serious case of COVID-19, the Trump campaign is on national TV this morning attacking Biden for “using the mask as a prop.”
There is little doubt that they probably prerecorded a number of pieces to roll out during his hospitalization. TV promos are about his only real skill.
Trump would be a better president if he were in a coma.

Sunday’s press conference on President Donald Trump’s status as a Covid-19 patient raised just as many new questions as answers, leaving many medical experts concerned that the public still isn’t getting a complete or accurate picture of the commander-in-chief’s health.
At the briefing at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where the president is being treated, his doctors said Trump is “doing very well” and had improved so much he could be discharged as soon as Monday.
Yet the optimistic report on the president’s prognosis also came with an admission by his physician, Sean Conley, that Trump had needed supplemental oxygen on Friday and that his blood oxygen saturation had dropped to worrisome levels twice in the past three days. Conley said he’d withheld details about this at Saturday’s press briefing because he wanted to “reflect the upbeat attitude that the team, the president” has had about the course of Trump’s illness.
The president’s medical team also reported that Trump on Saturday started yet another drug to fight Covid-19: dexamethasone. The steroid has been shown in clinical trials to improve outcomes — but is only recommended for patients with severe or critical Covid-19. It’s also the third Covid-19 drug to be administered to the president, following an experimental monoclonal antibody treatment given Friday and an ongoing, five-day course of the antiviral remdesivir.
But dexamethasone can also have serious psychiatric side effects, and the decision to use it so early in the president’s infection sparked a new round of speculation about the severity of his illness.
Vox spoke to five infectious disease and intensive care doctors about the news to try to make sense of it. They said either Trump is sicker than the White House is saying, or his doctors are over-treating their high-risk, 74-year-old VIP patient.

Have you still not learned about how viruses kill people? Viruses trigger a cascade of conditions and/or organ failures, which ultimately causes death.
Also, very small amounts of virus multiply exponentially in a very short period of time when in a body which is vulnerable due to factors such as a weakened immune system.
You should do some more research so that you can catch up to where the average person is in their understanding of this topic.
