Donald Trump tells America’s seniors that only he can save them, promising to deliver the same treatment for COVID that he received free-of-charge just after the election

As you might remember, before being elected President of the United States, Donald Trump told voters that, if we were to put him in the White House, he’d immediately be rolling out a health care plan that would “take care of everybody.” He refused to give any details at the time, but, as he told Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes, “Everybody,” under his plan, was “going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.” That, of course, never happened. Not only did Donald Trump never roll out the “terrific,” “phenomenal” and “fantastic” health care plan, like he’d repeatedly promised, but millions lost their health insurance during his first term, as he and Republicans sought to undercut the Affordable Care Act, eliminate protections for those with preexisting conditions, etc. And, now, as we head into the final weeks of his reelection campaign, he’s at it again, making promises about health care that we know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, he never intends to keep.

With two reputable polls showing Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by more than 20 points with voters 65 and older, the President did something unprecedented today. Like the snake oil salesman that he is, Donald Trump, standing in front of a green screen, took to Twitter to tell America’s seniors that they’d be receiving an “incredible” new “cure” for COVID-19. “You’re gonna’ get the same medicine (I got), and you’re gonna’ get it free,” he told America’s seniors. And, he said, it would be coming “soon.” Biden, he told them, wouldn’t do this for them. Only he could save their lives, and at absolutely “no charge”! Even by Trump’s standards, it was despicable.

Just remember, when he says, “Everybody’s going to be taken care of,” he’s said that before. And never forget, over 210,000 Americans have already died on his watch. And, for god’s sake, vote as though your life depends on it. There is one thing I know to be true, and that’s that Donald Trump will not be mailing a miracle cure to every American senior free-of-charge.

It’s also worth noting that the “cure” Trump talks about, which he received at Walter Reed last week — a cocktail of monoclonal antibodies developed by the pharmaceutical company Regeneron — was made with cells derived from fetal tissue, something which he had previously said that he was against.

The company said it was tested with fetal cells but it is not made with them.

Good thing experiments with fetal tissue were legal then, eh?

Do we know if it was necessary? They do terrible animal experiments just to prove your shampoo won’t hurt your eyes too bad and things like that. It might be possible to do the same test with umbilical cords from born babies, etc.

  1. […] Now, with a new election around the corner, it looks as though Donald Trump is back at it, telling people that a great new health care system is right around the corner. A few ago, in an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News, Donald Trump promised that, by August 2nd, he’d have signed a “full and complete” health care plan into law. And, guess what? It never happened. We’ve yet to even see a draft of the “phenomenal” new plan he promised. And, today, he’s telling everyone again that it’s just round the corner, the same way, a few days ago, he was telling America’s seniors that, if they reelected him, he’d be sharing the “cure” for COVID-19 with them completely free of charge. 2. […] a bizarre green screen video of himself promising those over 65 that, if he were to be reelected, he would give them all access to the COVID-19 “cure” free-of-charge… something which, he said, Joe Biden would never do. [note: There is not COVID-19 cure.] At […]
