Donald Trump is essentially telling the American people that they should not fear COVID, but instead embrace it. Meanwhile, in the real world, the CDC is forecasting that 2,700 to 8,600 new COVID-19 deaths will be reported in America during the week ending October 24. But yet there he stands, in front of the American people — over 2.3 million of whom have lost their health insurance during his presidency — gasping for air, and declaring, “You’re gonna’ beat it.” The truth is, they’re not. Even those of us still lucky enough to have health insurance, don’t have access to the experimental antibody treatments that Donald Trump claims will save us all. That’s just a fact.
Many of us have joked on this site in the past about Donald Trump being the leader of a death cult. For what it’s worth, as long as we’re talking about Americans facing COVID without insurance, here’s an interesting fact from today’s New York Times. “Independent estimates suggest that under Biden’s plan,” they report, “15 million to 20 million Americans would gain health insurance. And premiums would fall sharply, especially for middle-class families.” And here’s a useful little graphic outlining the health care plans of both candidates.
