We tend to forget because of the big crowds, but Donald Trump is incredibly unpopular

It did my heart good to see this today… It’s good to be reminded every now and then that, while Donald Trump’s supporters are very loud and visible, they aren’t everywhere, and there’s a reason why, for the most part, we only see the president standing in front on rallies, where all those in attendance have been vetted. In reality, Donald Trump is incredibly unpopular in America. Never forget that fact. He lost the popular election in 2016, and he’s only continued to lose support since then. A vast majority of Americans know that he is a vile, corrupt, and despicable conman, who’s gotten in way over his head, and they want him gone. We just need to make sure they all vote, and all of their votes are counted.

Did you see EOS believes of every 100,000 people who get the virus, only 3 will die from it? That’s probably even fewer than you would estimate, if you had the guts to actually say it.

  7. iRobert

Dr. Redfield said approximately 10% of the US population has had the virus. That would equate to 33 million. So EOS believes about 990 people have died from COVID-19 in the US.

iRobert, that seems like a pretty good sample size. I suspect though Redfield iis exaggerating the total infected, in order to bring the fatality rate lower. Countries with more expansive and robust testing and tracing programs have higher fatality rates. The actual positive test fatality rate is more consistent with results from rest of the world. Given Redfields prior intellectual dishonesty and the politicalization he has caused in the CDC, I believe his 33 million claim about as much as their constantly changing position on aresol spread.

I’m not surprised that people queuing up to pay their respects to Ginsberg would be inclined to heckle the president.

I think that for people living in places like Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti (or Washington D.C.) who are mostly liberal, and who mostly associate with others like them, it’s easy to think that Trump is extremely unpopular, and very unlikely to win.

For another perspective, take a leisurely drive some day around Monroe County, or Jackson County, or similar. I know that “yard signs don’t vote,” but the number and distribution of Trump and MAGA signs, banners, and even small billboards in people’s yards is jolting.

In 2016, so many people were sure that because Donnie was clearly crazy, and Clinton so “experienced,” there was no way he could win – and the polls seemed to bear that out. To me, at least, it feels like we’re gearing up for a repeat of that miscalculation.

Trump got fewer votes in Michigan to win it in 2016 than Romney got in Michigan when he lost it.

Biden is going to win the popular vote. The only possibility that Trump wins is by third party manipulation as was the case in 2016.

OHA spokesman Jonathan Modie explained in an email how the state determines what is counted as a COVID-19 death:

We consider COVID-19 deaths to be:

Deaths in which a patient hospitalized for any reason within 14 days of a positive COVID-19 test result dies in the hospital or within the 60 days following discharge.

Deaths in which COVID-19 is listed as a primary or contributing cause of death on a death certificate.

We count COVID-19 deaths this way because the virus can often have effects on an individual’s health that may complicate their recovery from other diseases and conditions, even injuries, and indirectly contribute to their death. Another reason is because OHA is using this data to track the spread of the disease, and to create actionable steps for stopping its spread.
