Why are GOP operatives working so hard to get Kanye West on the Wisconsin ballot?

For any of you who thought the Kanye West’s presidential run was anything but a cynical attempt to peel Democratic votes away from Joe Biden in order to advantage the Trump campaign, I give you the following footage, shot today in Madison, of Lane Ruhland, an election lawyer with the Wisconsin Republican Party, dropping off signatures to get West’s name on the Wisconsin ballot. [Ruhland, who has served as the former general counsel of the state Republican Party, was contacted by a reporter this evening, and did not deny that it was her.] According to reporter Matt Smith, who shot the video, Ruhland arrived at the building after 5:00, missing the deadline, but was allowed in anyway to drop off her petitions.

As for the answer to the question posed in the title of this post, here’s a clue… The most recent polling out of Wisconsin shows Biden leading by 5 to 10 points, and Trump can’t win reelection without the state.

One last thing. Here’s just a little piece of advice. If your side has to run fake candidates, gerrymander districts to the point of absurdity, and use dirty tricks to keep people from the polls, you might be on the won’t team.

If this were the Democratic Party running a dummy candidate for the purpose of rigging a presidential election, our resident Trumpanzees would be saying it is treason and promising mass arrests.

    Trump tweeted this just now:

“Nevada has ZERO infrastructure for Mail-In Voting. It will be a corrupt disaster if not ended by the Courts. It will take months, or years, to figure out. Florida has built a great infrastructure, over years, with two great Republican Governors. Florida, send in your Ballots!”

It’s an amazing coincidence how the states where mail-in voting will work just happen to be the reliable red states with primarily older, white voters.

One wonders why Trump, when referencing states where mail-in voting might work, doesn’t mention Oregon, where they’ve been doing it without issue for over two decades.

On Monday, Kanye’s campaign withdrew his name from the ballot in New Jersey after irregularities were found on the petition. Of the 1,327 signatures submitted, 733 were deemed “objectionable”. This includes people with no last names, no town listed, not registered to vote or not even from New Jersey. (From NJ.com article)

I love how republicans think that they can prop up Kanye and he’ll peel off Biden voters simply because he’s black, but it never occurred to them that Trump voters would be more likely to peel off for him because he’s an outspoken celebrity with no political experience. It rather neatly encapsulates their total lack of self-awareness, bald-faced racism and penchant for rat-fucking democracy all at once. I can’t wait to see this genius move backfire on them.

Wobblie. I don’t think Warren was running in order to get Biden the nomination. If her being in the race somehow gets Harris the nomination for VP though, then I guess I will not be able to say that I am unhappy even though I still don’t see it as a factor.

When it comes to deaths there appears to be a sine wave of lesser amplitude echoing the initial iteration. I suppose it probably will go down further than the first one too. You’re an idiot, HW. Viruses run through the population all the time. The pattern is more or less the same every time. It is highly predictable. The death rate will level off and then very slowly decline until autumn weather hits the US. That is when the virus spreads again like it did in Spring. That’s what all highly contagious cold and flu viruses do.

The sine wave is created through human action. We have established a new plateau because many states have re-enstated or extended lockdowns, it is not a “natural “ occurrence. You still believe it is “just like the flu”. More likely as students are forced into schools the spread will take off from this new higher plateau. The reality is it will spread totally out of control and begin to overwhelm our hospitals creating growing economic dislocation. It is what it is.

Ross Perot was a good example of how a third party candidate can have a pretty big influence on an election, fwiw. This even when everyone involved is doing things correctly and legaly and whatnot.

Third party candidates are ALWAYS allowed in our elections, it is just that they usually are not popular enough or the election is not close enough for them to have an influence. Sometimes they do influence things though. Perot absolutely split the conservative vote and he is the reason Clinton won . We saw it in Michigan in 2016. Florida in 2000.

Conservatives obviously know this which is why they are getting Kanye on the ballot. They are hoping for a close election and that just enough people will vote for Kanye to change the outcome. It took just 18,000 Jill Stein Green Party voters to do that in Michigan in 2016 so the strategy isn’t crazy. It is a shame that they are exploiting someone’s mental illness though but we aren’t talking about people with decent morals. We are talking about people like EOS, HW, and FF. Exploiting mental illness isn’t an issue for them as long as their guy wins.

I don’t think it will work though.

That’s a lie Cassandra. I believe in lifting up the mentally ill in our society in the name of equality of outcomes. We have not had a mentally ill president for awhile. Now it is your turn. Fair is fair. Biden 2020.

I can’t imagine being someone who thinks he knows what is going on to the point where he ridicules others but has no idea what he is talking about. An anti-birther who thinks Obama grew up in Kenya!

What I think would be honorable is to admit you are out to lunch each time you really fuck up something like this. Not only that but apologize to those you ridicule when it is you who is ridiculous.

FF, I guess that depends of if you consider personality disorders to be mental illnesses. We certainly have a president with a fairly obvious personality disorder.

The problem is Trump is never going to be ready because he is not very good at playing the expert about health stuf—because he is not.
Trump is what he is. Biden is what he is. The truth is what it is . It seems so strange to me that adults would celebrate gotcha tactics and tactics designed to fluster rather than to get at a truth. We need interviews where we get to the truth of what the other person is trying to say. Trump is slippery for sure. It’s ok for an interviewer to try to keep him on topic and answer questions but Swan seemed to just want to fluster.

    Not Necessarily Vague Guy,

Questions are essential, my friend—duh. They can also be misused—duh. Are you trying to play a game where you paint my comments to indicate FF is anti-follow-up questions? LOL.

May I ask: What is your point of quoting me? What exactly do you find objectionable in my comment? Identity it so we can discuss it. Do you think Swan was trying to further an understanding of what Trump was trying to say?

    I find you extremely odd!!!!!

A lot of people are not aware that Epoch Times was started by Chinese dissidents who were persecuted by the CCP because of their religion.

Epoch Times was started by Chinese persons who escaped the Chinese regime. They would be killed by the communists had they still been in China. It would serve Americans well to be educated on the horrors of communism. The only people today who think communism is a desirable form of government are those who have never experienced it directly or those who have to express support for it or face execution.
