I’ve got other shit to do tonight, and I really don’t have time for this, but what the fuck, people?

update: The president, denying reporting that it was his decision to slow down the issuance of stimulus checks in order to include his name, says he doesn’t know how it came to pass that his name was added to the checks. He then adds, “I’m sure people will be very happy to get a big, fat, beautiful check and my name is on it.”

    He’s a brilliant politician.
I’m stunned that this is legal.
The stimulus checks should be signed by Pelosi if any politician.
Normal signatory would be the secretary of Treaury correct?

But, wait, there’s more. It’s being reported that the addition of his name may delay checks from getting to those who need them!

“Stimulus checks may be delayed as Trump requires U.S. Treasury to print his name on them”

    Nicholas Kristof:
“The delivery of $1200 stimulus checks to needy Americans is delayed so that President Trump’s name can be printed on the checks (nothing like this happened with any previous president). OK. So I suggest that Trump’s name also be put on top of tax bills.”

Most people have direct deposit. Those receiving checks by mail are largely those without bank accounts (more poor) and they were already going to be delayed because printing checks en masse takes time. This will delay them further.

    What a selfish asshole.

Another example of traitorous behavior. Congress approved the money to help folks and stimulate the economy ASAP. Any delay impedes this Constitutional duty of Congress. He’s crazy, evil, all of it yes. But ultimately he’s a traitor and must be delt with according as a deterrent to future dictator wannabes.

I don’t think he needs to be dealt with so harshly.

He should just be offered another television reality show job. That’s his true calling…circus side show. I think he’d take it at this point. He can see where this is going for him. He’s not cut out for real world stuff.

I understand the upset with Trump not really preparing after being made aware of the problem.

But in spite of his usual unpleasantness hasn’t he done a few things that have been helpful?

Yeah, and that’s all we can really ever ask of a president.

I’ve got a great idea for a reality show. In it, Trump sits in a room made to look identical to the Oval Office and is given very simple tasks, starting with organizing a charity car wash.

“Recent polls show that more Americans disapprove of Mr. Trump’s handling of the virus than approve.

So on Tuesday, the president tried to shift the blame elsewhere, ordering his administration to halt funding for the World Health Organization and claiming the organization made a series of devastating mistakes as it sought to battle the virus. He said his administration would conduct a review into whether the W.H.O. was responsible for “severely mismanaging and covering up” the spread.”

I thought they were concerned with privacy and against government surveillance.

Trump did give New York all the hospital beds they didn’t need. That’s something.

I’m not defending him, just saying he has tried a little.

Dropping in halfway to May 1st. Like other non-retail businesses, health care operates on a delayed 30-35 day accounts receivable revenue cycle. The work that is being performed is completely out of balance with regards to skill sets and reimbursements. It is now about 30 days since health care has been “normal”. The financial spigots are running dry and the government bail out money is nowhere near sufficient to maintain current levels of staffing despite markedly different patterns of care provision. Other nonhealth businesses on a similar accounts receivable cycle have already announced furloughs because of unavoidable financial constraints. Although it is cognitively dissonant, look for this to hit the health care segment soon. We are structured to make a small profit on elective surgical and other similar procedures to offset losses from complex chronic medical patients. But that’s all we have now, complex chronic medical patients. Ouch.

On schedule, bitch. Get the fuck out of here.

    https://www.newsweek.com/stimulus-checks-delayed-payment-irs-1498062
The Treasury Department assured the nation there are no delays to stimulus checks and that everything is on schedule.

“Economic Impact Payment checks are scheduled to go out on time and exactly as planned—there is absolutely no delay whatsoever,” a Treasury spokeswoman told Newsweek in a statement. “In fact, we expect the first checks to be in the mail early next week which is well in advance of when the first checks went out in 2008 and well in advance of initial estimates.”

The first stimulus checks have already hit millions of Americans’ accounts in the form of a direct deposit. By Wednesday, 80 million Americans should have received their payments as a direct deposit.

Bob my point was that the stimulus package was pulled off (such as it is, which we all agree is not ideal) by Pelosi. Trump can’t claim it. I don’t actually think Pelosi should sign the checks.

I do know a great many people whom the CARES act will help a great deal. Most are low income workers. Small businesses are getting more than ever before, but it’s too little too late for many. Corporations are getting the most help. As always. That’s what happens when the GOP still holds the Senate and a big chunk of the house. If assholes like you stopped attacking the Dem party, we might be able to change that.

But go ahead and hate Pelosi for sucking it up and getting stuff done while you bitch at her and deride her from your armchair. You are a real champion of the people, Bob. What would they do without you?

The CARES act was dramatically amended by the efforts of the house, including, but not limited to, expansion of eligibility for unemployment benefits to cover more of the work force, addition of $600/week to standard benefits for unemployment, comprehensive 100% federally backed loans to small businesses including payroll forgiveness. The stimulus checks remained the same but they fill loopholes that would have prevented many of the most needy (those who didn’t file income taxes because of a low income threshold) from receiving them.

Do yes I think Pelosi and Schumer deserve credit. The Senste version was just a massive corporate giveaway. And checks. They offered workers and small businesses nothing that would have allowed them to survive this shutdown. How far would that $1200 have gone to solving those economic woes?

Tim Ryan and Ro Khanna’s Emergency Money for the People Act, announced Tuesday, US citizens who are 16 or older and make less than $130,000 a year would receive up to $2,000 a month from the federal government for at least six months and until unemployment falls to pre-pandemic levels.”
