Senator Elizabeth Warren dropped out of the 2020 presidential race today, leaving those of us who care about the future of our country to choose between two old, white men. It is, of course, disheartening to see the best candidate have to leave the field, but I’ve decided not to spend my time this evening blaming the system, in hopes of perhaps setting a good example for the followers of the next candidate to be forced out of the race. The stakes are just too high, I think, to engage in internal democratic fighting right now. With that said, though, I will say that it’s going to take me a while to come to terms with the fact that I wasn’t given an opportunity to cast a ballot for the best presidential candidate of my lifetime… I could go on for hours about what her historic campaign has meant to me, or why I felt she was so particularly well-suited for this era in American history, but I’ll just leave you with the following excerpt from Warren’s address to her campaign staff. I think it gets to the heart of what I love about her. And it gives me some comfort to know that she’s going to to remain engaged, and fighting to end corruption, expand health care, and level the economic playing field for all Americans.

I have voted by absentee ballot in Michigan for Warren. If I were going into the voting booth on Tuesday, I would still vote for her because I will never vote for Sanders in a primary and I wouldn’t feel good about voting for Biden either. I don’t really have a preference between them.
She came in third place among the Democratic voters in her own state. That’s gotta hurt.
Maybe they knew she was only in the race as a dummy candidate syphoning support away from Sanders. She did an okay job with that. She did a way better job of taking Bloomberg down before he could even get out of the gate. I loved that.

Joe Biden has basically acted as a republican. He was here in Michigan stumping for Republicans not long ago. He has voted against protecting Roe. He has suggested cuts to social security. His treatment of Anita Hill was shameful. If you truly don’t see the difference between Biden and Sanders you are just a complete moron.

Warren still hasn’t endorsed either of the candidates Democrats in her own state chose over her. I’m guessing she’ll wait ‘til after polls close this coming Tuesday. She doesn’t want to help Sanders at all. It would defeat her whole purpose for running in the first place.
The only thing that would defeat her purpose for running would be endorsing Biden. She would be a complete sellout for that move. The Sanders camp has already floated the offer that she could have the VP position. Whatever their personal differences, or the inexcusable Warren bashing by some Bernie faithful. I hope she takes it. It’s the only conceivable way to avoid the impending disaster of Biden in the general. It’s stunning that anyone thinks he’s the guy.
The majority of voters in these Democratic primaries seem to think Biden’s the guy. I’d still prefer Tulsi over Biden. But almost zero Democratic primary voters agree with me.
I’ll be curious to see how Michigan goes.

I had to go Bernie. I’ll vote for Biden and advocate for him against Trump . But I just couldn’t do it.
If Warren were to endorse him I think that could change things.

I sorta wish Klobuchar had been the DNC chosen one at this point. If we are going to be stuck with a right-wing Dem, and we obviously are, it might as well have been her. I don’t think Trump would have run over her the way he was likely to destroy Warren. She’s a tough customer and would have been good at punching back. Her with Booker or Deval Patrick as a running mate might have been strong.
Biden/Trump campaign drinking game: Take a shot every time you hear “Burisma” mentioned. We’ll all get so fucked up. Not as fucked up as Hunter “crackhead” Biden gets, but pretty good. It’s going to be wicked ugly.
Sanders is pulling out the big guns.
