Have you ever seen the film Mister Roberts? Well, do you remember how, at the very end, when Jack Lemmon receives the letter informing him that Henry Fonda’s character had just been killed in battle, one of the men standing near him on the deck of the ship asks for the letter, so that he can post it for the crew, and how William Powell intercedes, saying in an incredibly solemn manner, “No, post this instead,” handing over a letter that Fonda’s character had written to his former shipmates just prior to having been killed? Well, something kind of similar happened here tonight. I was almost ready to share Donald Trump’s absolutely insane letter to Nancy Pelosi, in which he says the victims of the Salem witch trials had it better than him, when my inner William Powell interceded, telling me to post this instead — Pelosi’s letter to the Democratic members of the House on the eve of tomorrow’s impeachment vote. It’s the better, more inspiring letter for the crew to read tonight.
“With allegiance to our Founders, with our hearts full of love for America, I salute the moral courage of our Democratic Members to Defend our Democracy For The People.”

The fact that the Trump letter is not seen as an insane, alarming, authoritarian warning about the decay of our political system is a signal of how far norms and expectations have moved in politics and media the last three years.
Happy Impeachment Day, everyone! God bless Nancy Pelosi and all the libs for finally sacking up. Fear not, Warlord. There will be other racist shitbags for you to worship.
For those who still want a deep dive into that Trump letter, here is an annotated, fact checked v of it: https://transcripts.factcheck.org/trump-letter-to-pelosi-on-impeachment/?fbclid=IwAR1rJJ9JcCLQQwZ9fmYAoDllFdx60U4QUOBGyfIi7DXbmNaWrXnmQrK-Gw0
Bob, you one-shot little bitch.
Agent Orange unfavorable rating by active military is 50% versus 42% favorable. So their disgust with Syria, and his general ruskie stoogery, are superceding their tendency to like authoritarian leadership. What kinda gop putz loses the military? Unpresidented for sure.

God bless the Democratic Party.
Merry Christmas, everybody.
I would eat shit for Donald Trump. I would completely debase myself for him. That’s what good leadership is all about, the ability to inspire that kind of blind devotion. Obama was a president. Trump is a leader. No one would have eaten shit for Obama. We’d fight each other for a spoon full of Trump’s. And he’d love it.
Hope nothing bad comes about about Haiti. Don’t know what you zombies see but I see a distinct trend of increasing numbers of black people warming to the President.

They will lose black vote once Haiti revealed.
Lost now (awakening).
They keep them enslaved.
What did Hussein do for the black community?
vs POTUS?
Q
On the one hand, I would LOVE to see the GOP pick up the black vote because that would mean that they have moved past their blatant racism. I don’t see it happening any time soon though. I would prefer it if the Democratic candidates could focus on genuinely serving minorities though.
The best part of that scene you reference is when Chief Petty Officer Dowdy, before taking the letter form Doc, removes his glove, signifying its almost religious importance.
Lynne reminds me of that joke where an anti Semite meets a Jew and likes him. The Jew is filled with warm feelings as he believes he is on the cusp of reforming an anti Semite. The Jew asks the anti-semite: You like me, and I am a Jew, so you must not think Jew’s are so bad now, right? The anti semite responds: You are not a REAL Jew.
Maybe iRobert is kinda funny?
Or if FF just totally humorless?
Hey Warlord, do you know why no Republicans support impeachment?
Because they think all babies should be carried full term
Wow, some dumb neo-confederate bastard in Congress just compared Agent Orange to Jesus Christ. But I’d argue crucifixion is barbaric and a firing squad is adequate. As long as he’s strung up and displayed as a warning to future traitors afterwards.
” I see a distinct trend of increasing numbers of black people warming to the President.”
Trump’s job approval rating among Black Americans:
in 2016 10%
now 10%

HW There is a reason we don’t see things the way you do– Reality.
I interrupt this day’s impeachment to bring you this county wide Racial Equity learning challenge. The commitment is 15 minutes a day for 21 days in January. There will be daily prompts by email. The goal is to get 10,000 people county wide to participate in this challenge. Since people in this forum seem to have a keen interest in this subject, I thought I would share it here.

the direct link to sign up for the equity challenge can be found here: https://www.uwwashtenaw.org/equity
If polls were reflective of reality the poll you are offering would not exist because Hillary would be president.
I am under the same impression as HW. A realignment is happening. Left, right and independent are aligning themselves against the establishment democrats. That is my impression…
Fashy Flake must not have seen that agent Orange lost the support of his African American.

FF and HW rely on their ‘impressions’ not polling. Trump won because he had better polling. But ok.
The scenario you describe, FF is exactly Bannon’s biggest hope by his own account. Tucker Carlson, scion of true elites, is betting his career on it. Unfortunately, while many may be aligned against ‘the establishment’ or ‘the elites,’ they don’t agree on much else. They don’t even really agree on who qualifies as the elites. Liberals don’t help matters by being admittedly far too smug. (Still no one is as smug as you FF) Populism is very effective as a political strategy but it’s a disaster in terms of governance.
So Jean agrees that some polling is better than others? I was under the same impression. Good to know.
True. I see there were two polls showing much higher Black support for Trump last week. These are still outliers. We’ll see. I actually think it would be great for the country if the GOP reached for Black voters. It can only help them. I have said for decades now that the GOP were missing out on potential voters by dismissing Black social conservatives. I think everyone can agree that Black people will be better served if both parties are fighting for their votes.
